Lol, we're practically shoving people into the meat grinder of capitalism and these are the numbers it gets us.

Absolutely cursed Ideology.

How much of that is Covid and how much is brexit? Nevertheless theres no way this december wont be the collapse of several markets with holiday spending being down double digits percentages.

And to rant a little, for the tech bros/gamers out there, Nvidia GPU prices will go up 100$ per skew once again with "entry level" now being $400 usd when just 4 years ago it was $200~ not too mention how high companies charge for their flagship phones vs just 5 years ago flagship prices.

Wages havent gone up except the meager $12 an hour in some places all the while costs have gone up insanely.

I remember when I stopped gaming the 580 was 500 bucks, and it was also the flagship gpu iirc. I remember checking the price for a 2080ti last year and my jaw dropped. nVidia really doesn't give two fucks lol

AMD has not been able to compete until very very recently with Nvidia because Nvidia wasn't really slacking in producing new features and just keeping their top halo product year on year, on the other hand AMD has been shit stomping Intel recently because Intel just sat on their asses for years and kept doing minor refreshes every year until AMD dropped Zen and Zen 2. Hopefully AMD does not gouge as much as Nvidia on the new Gpu generation or I will be very sad.

I got the 5700xt for under $400 on sale and damn is it a beast. It's about equal to a 2070 super, but is like $200 cheaper.

yea 5700xt was what I almost got a few months back but i forced myself to wait for the new ray tracing cards so I can play minecraft with cool reflections lol

I got the 5700 and flashed the XT bios I got it for 340$ just a few % below the XT and for yet nearly 100$ at the time. Only downside is I got the blower version so it gets loud and hot after long sessions

I was thinking about doing that, but the OC card I got was only like $20 more than the 5700 version so I figured that was me paying the $20 to not go through the anxiety of flashing a new bios on a ~$400 piece of hardware haha

Maybe this is because I normally also get the leading console alongside my PC (only been a PC user since 2012 since college). But the normies out there when deciding to upgrade their PC, a not so insignificant amount, will see that the"low end" SKU is $400 while the consoles will be $400-$500 (maybe $600?) And just ditch PC. Price hiking when the economy is about to just take the shits seems incredibly greedy and even down right idiotic.

Of course this is NVidia, a company who already raised prices with the 2000 series and thought the crypto craze sales bump was going to be permanent. I can't expect less than greedy and moronic

Yeah thats a fair point, but I don't exactly expect this to last "only" 1 quarter in the west, we are completely failing to reason logically about this pandemic, and are repeating the mistakes of the past all to keep the wheels of exploitation turning.

The pandemic is now accelerating in Europe again, and the US is obviously lying about its numbers, no way this is over.

Gdp only measures how rich the rich people in a country are and is 100% meaningless. Engaging with it seriously only serves to legitimate it

Right, consider that the rich have done well for themselves during covid while the working class gets screwed. So it's really more like +10% GDP for the capital class and -25% for the working class.

(I know that's not quite how GDP works, just making an academic point about how GDP says nothing about how growth and wealth are distributed)

I mean if this is relative to the previous quarter, China was more affected than any other country in December/January/February. If every country had the same economic system it still might look like this
