It is common knowledge that Castro used a time machine to lower the literacy rates of Batista's Cuba.

I love how we're all so disillusioned with politics as a way to materially change things, even on a subconscious level, that people literally just forget that Propaganda of the Deed exists. They think propaganda is just when posters.

And if that's true, then Castro would have had to go back in time to implement literacy programs to convince people to be communist and do a revolution, so that he could implement literacy programs to convince people to be communists and do a revolution, so that he could implement litera

the struggle of women in pakistan and afghanistan for gaining education? tankie.

the struggle of black people wanting access to education under jim crow laws (and some today sometimes too) ? sorry thats tankie.

the basic definition of literacy is reading/writing at the equivalent of a 10th grade level. its a bit of an american definition, since not every country has the same grade school system, but generally its just reading/writing at a 15 year old level...but again, whats wrong with that??? i'm a brown immigrant, and i only ever see this anti-illiteracy from white people who are NOT from the global south, so white people please shut the fuck up

My favorite followup tweet from the poster

“The only person engaging with this tweet in good faith was @derLutzelmann (will get back to your replies soon, you made good points!) and everyone else is just doing incoherent tankie/statist babbling”

Maybe that babbling would be more coherent to you if you could read?

Using statism as a serious perjorative and cudgel is a very simple red flag of not being worth engaging with online.

It's essentially just an extension of authoritarianism/totalitarianism, which are red flags in their own right of someone being brainwormed.

It's also a comically overbroad term. Most people -- and certainly everyone who could be considered a leftist -- have some types of states they like and others they strongly dislike. Almost no one is going to bat for the idea of a state absent significant qualifiers.

It's like calling someone a "poisonist" because they like alcohol, even though they strongly dislike arsenic.

Not to mention that “literacy learning” and schools are often a vehicle for spreading cultural hegemony

I'm sure in the era of mass media cultural hegemony would not exist were it not for those evil schools.

More proof that this type of "anarchist" guy is just a 16 year old who idolizes Sid Vicious and hates going to class.

Real fucking "Anarchism needs to abolish bedtimes and homework" hours. FFS, Kropotkin deserves so much better than this. Emma Goldman deserves better than this. All the spaniards who died throwing dynamite after bishops and cardinals and the royal family deserves better than this.

if you press them hard enough they will start doing this with infant mortality rates and life expectancy as well. as you are reeling from the implications of this nuclear take, they will take the opportunity to tell you to read foucault.

    lol.

    lmao, even.

edit: i forgot, on the off chance that you actually have read foucault, they will then insist that you read him wrong and then spout some inscrutable lacanian bullshit to further stymie potential avenues of communication, then finish you off with a "it's just impossible to speak to people who aren't immersed up to their nipples on the daily in the infinite subjective intricacies of late 20th century literature with philosophical characteristics CRITICAL THEORY, we should just agree to disagree because you red fash are just categorically wrong about everything and nothing i say will be able to change that 😤"

Civilizations brag about having no homeless people when they are creating the problem they solve(by creating permanent living quarters and shelter).

Also reminds me of anprim ecofash(:a-guy: #ripbozo) who say that bigotry just exists by virtue of people being able to take a break from base survival struggles so the solution is to reduce people back to basic survival conditions.

A complex society obviously creates it's own issues, but the "solution" of forcefully transitioning back to hunter gatherer societies would kill literally billions of people. Not a low billions either. Like I'd rather live with the shitty status quo than watch everyone I know starve or die of infection.

We might want to remove the slur filter from URLs. Would anybody use the URL bar to use slurs?
