Seriously though. Someone smarter than me should write an effort post on how overt horniness in neutral spaces drives people (especially women and nonbinary people) away and creates cover for sex pests.
My take: Most dudes don’t want to make people uncomfortable, but they’re socialized into thinking sexually harassing people, especially women, is a compliment. It’s fucked up, unacceptable, and dudes are responsible for working through that internalized patriarchy.
Irony joke lets the normal dudes have a self-crit moment and drop the shit. Sex pest losers keep going. Then you ban the creeps.
It's also flexible enough that you can make jokes about kinks and bottoming, but someone will come in with :volcel-judge: or :spray-bottle: before it goes for more than a comment or two.
I guess the volcel police are just much funnier and more entertaining than anything you'd get from hornyposting, so it self-propagates.
