Why wouldn't you right? You're passing up so much loot if you don't!

But yeah, I'm an obsessive packrat in those games, pick up anything not nailed down/not considered stealing. So you know I write down the locations of any locked stuff beyond my level to go back and get it later, even if it's just a lunchbox or some shit lol.

I only mentioned loot for the sake of brevity, but besides that I also like unlocking doors/computers to fully explore a place, get access to terminal entries, etc.

      What’s the point really?

      the thrill of theft

But what if I need even more money later? I'm just sure there'll be something I want to spend it on at some point. And so I better just keep grabbing all these forks and spoons to sell...

In TES yes, in Fallout and most western RPGs it's all about the speech.

Not in Skyrim because it's pretty easy to pick locks without actually having the skill for it.

But in every other game, yes.

    In 3 and NV? Yes.

    4 and 76? Nope.

Oblivion I rush for Skeleton key, and Morrowind I use Unhinging spells/Scrolls.

In 3 and NV there was sometimes locked content behind doors and such, but now there's basically nothing that you can't miss.

most games struggle to balance the value of all skills. holds true for Bethesda games. I've never found lockpicking to be worth.

IDK about bethesda rpgs but I always take a couple points in hacking/lockpicking in SS2/Bioshock/Prey. It's just too good for kickstarting a run with some resources.

Speech and in New Vegas I always go for repair. Jury rigging is one of the strongest perks in the entire game and you need good repair to fix up ED-E

After that I usually just spec in to unarmed and punch everything to death since its so strong.

I just rock Boon and Ed-e so I don't actually have to fight anything.

You come out of dead money with so much cash you can just give boon all the anti mat rifle ammo he can ever use. Once you know the timing for the palm stun the game is ez mode. That timing is also incredibly easy. Superheated saturnite fists is all you need for the whole game.

Now I wanna play new Vegas again. Time to spend 12 hours modding :sadness-abysmal:
