Watched this move last night. It's absolutely pure reactionary ideology on screen, and its fucking awesome and hilarious. Crime happens because psychos with axes just want to do crime, and the only way to fight crime is to kill all of them. Extremely cheesy montages and action sequences with ridiculously high body counts - this movie is fucking awesome. The dialogue is, many times, perplexing and ridiculous. Highly recommend watching this

My favourite thing Cobra does is just touch everything like a child. When he goes to that roadside shop and just starts picking up shit like snow globes and stuff I can't stop laughing.

    That and the pizza scene.

Conspiracy theory: He was a terminator but he didn't know it.

      That and the pizza scene.

Nuh uh, you can't just call it the pizza scene

The man pulls what is clearly a five day old pizza from his fridge and cuts into it with a pair of scissors like it's a piece of construction paper

It's honestly something that has to be seen because there's not a person alive who does that aside from Marion Cobretti

There's also an episode of How Did This Get Made, but it's behind the paywall and I can't find a way to pirate it right now

That episode includes my favourite Chapo-ism of all time, which is Felix calling Stallones gun-handling an italian circumcision, because Stallone / Cobra fires the gun like 4-5 times and just shoves it directly into his pants to hold it after.

I can't remember - is there a line of dialog in Cobra where Stallone says to a thug - "You're the disease and I'm the cure."

Also, if he says that in this movie - does he say it with a toothpick in his mouth? I seem to remember the toothpick is part of the Cobra persona but usually get movie stuff all confused.

[Edit: Not a toothpick. A match.]

What was that one anime that was highly influenced by Cobra? Where there's an actual communist gang and a bunch of cops kill them and there's explosions everywhere? Late 80s I think. I watched it once and it was the most explicitly fascist anime I've ever seen and it was extremely funny

The story of Angel Cop follows Angel and Raiden, two cops in the Special Security Force fighting a takeover of the Japanese government by the communist terrorist group Red May.

Ah, sounds like dumb, bog standard reactionary drivel.

It's eventually revealed that Red May was started by Jewish bankers as a means to turn Japan into a toxic waste dump.

      :wut:

Apparently, the writer went on to work on 2003's Fullmetal Alchemist.

even when I was a dumb little kid, thinking the A-Team was a documentary about mercenaries, my friend and I would watch Cobra and laugh our asses off at how over the top it is.

    great movie.
