Buttigieg was forced to drive from Washington D.C. to New York

Due to the increase in summer travel, the Transportation Security Administration recommends that travelers arrive at least three hours before departure.

    Drive time = 3 hours, 50 minutes

Flight time plus TSA arrival bloat = 1 hour, 10 minutes + 3 hours = 4 hours, 10 min (not to mention to/from the airport) :amerikkka-clap:

Unless this is a bold environmentalist ploy by :pete: to gradually ban air traffic by making it so bad that no one will bother flying :think-about-it:

Poor Booty was forced at gunpoint to drive three hours. How dare you insult the first rodent to ever hold a position in the US government.

What the fuck? Amtrak actually has their own high speed train from New York to DC (not as high speed as Japan, for example, but still), using their own rail that they don't have to share with freight, that runs reliably. Why would he drive?

He didn't even take the train? That train is often faster than both and this mf is transportation secretary

Just take Amtrak you fucking wankers. It goes from downtown DC to downtown NYC in half the time and you don't even have to pay for parking.

It's because the only way their profits can increase is by packing more and more people like sardines and make the amenities worse and worse, and they can't just add more cars like they can with trains.

100% this. I just had my first overseas flight in 10 years with a bigger airline, and the seats were insanely uncomfortable. so much smaller. like what you used to get on those budget airlines 10 years ago that hopped an hour.

except now you get the same seat for like 6 hours.

          ...

also, in the "post" COVID era the "critical staffing shortages" resulted in multiple mechanical failures, a fuel leak, and planes sitting out on the runway waiting for a gate for an extra 90-120 minutes.

I swear, I am never taking a plane again. if I go overseas, I am taking a slow boat on a cargo ship and will blow a week on transport.
