Through friends, I know a guy who makes 400k USD per year.

This same guy has no food in his apartment because "it's too expensive". He eats out (or orders in) for literally every meal.

In sum: the rich are idiots.

I've met people like this, my college had a lot of comp sci guys, and I always want to take a shower whenever I think about them.

A reassuring point is most of them are exceedingly stupid and do not understand social organization (or even basic human empathy).

                Thus they are easily fooled.

But also almost impossible to talk to because they're basically the arch-debatebros who think every human discussion should be replaced with computer logic and that all of their arguments are "rational" while yours are "emotional"

Just getting a basic conditioner shampoo hybrid with a reasonable scent (sandalwood or eucalyptus are pretty good) and then combine with bodywash and deodorant. Bam, five minute shower and a quick rub in the pits. Put some cologne or aftershave on (I love pinaud and other CVs cheap brands). Men's hygiene is so fucking basic and yet so many fuck it up horribly.

all our computer shit would be way better if devs were forced to be as diligent as the 80s instead of memory and processing gains being wasted on bloat

it doesn't have to, there's just no financial incentive or regulatory pressure. embedded systems are still constrained because they want to pay less for hardware, but you care a lot less if you're not the one buying ram.

I've had a lot of PMC complain to me lately too about "being broke" which usually amounts to them still having a bunch of money and assets but they have to buy store brand instead of premium this week

These are the same people who treat poor people like they're lying if they dare to say they have no money.

this is honestly one of the reasons why I feel compelled to post here about my experiences from time to time. the problem is all the bourgeoisie, not just the billionaires. they certainly aren't all equally bad, but they're all in the way of progress. And I sort of feel the need to affirm that, yes, the proletariat are getting fucking gaslit and yeah, rich people absolutely don't have money trouble the same way the proletariat do.

My ex father-in-law stressed about money every single day despite having a combined income of $120k a year, owning their 4 bedroom home outright, and having 10s of thousands of dollars in investments. I could not comprehend it for the life of me.

Rest in piss you racist bastard.

the maoist uprising against the landlords was the largest and most comprehensive proletarian revolution in history, and led to almost totally-equal redistribution of land among the peasantry
