I fucking hate Teams. It tries so hard to run in the background and be annoying and it’s fucking impossible to uninstall when you’re done too
For real I had to google how to uninstall it for fuck sakes I hate the antichrist
can you run it inside a VM so you can just nuke the container afterwards
Welcome to the Team. You want to be part of the Team don’t you? Don’t be a stick in the mud Teammate!
Is is possible to isolate your work stuff inside of a VM?
Would recommend this. I have the ability remote to a workstation that I keep everything work-related on and keep my home computer as separated as possible from work. Future plan is to set up a vm of windows that nukes itself when I'm done with it.
I'm tired of Microsoft's bullshit
You can't just use the web app? You could set up a container in Firefox for all your work pages or just for Microsoft pages, and keep them isolated from the rest of your browsing.
Alternatively, you could install the Teams flatpak? I don't know how well it is sandboxed, but I think there are tools you could use to tighten it up.
On Android, it's useful to install these kinds of things in a work profile, which you can manage with Insular from F-Droid. That way, it won't have access to your address book and so on.
You can’t just use the web app?

HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE
Is this in Firefox? I haven't seen that, though they do limit some features. But if you use a user-agent spoofing extension, it works fine.
So this was bullshit
It's still better to use the web version unless there is info about the flatpak so if user agent spoofing doesn't work then use degoogled chromium
If you change your browser agent using an extension maybe you can get past that screen?
Yeah, that or a VM or container are also reasonable ideas.
Get it from the Microsoft website as the direct package and not though any of the app stores, it's super slow as a snap package or whatever
True, but in this instance keep the hate pure and get the snap package
I've been learnin about linux recently, like trying to get a solid understanding of basic shit. So if I am understanding, snaps are bad because on the server where we get them, we have no idea what they're doing with that shit? Like in terms of data collection etc. It's centralized and it has r9oot access for updates? I know they're slower to start but they're more contained or somethin is one of the arguments I've read. I feel so simple but I'm just trying to learn
Have they fixed the spell check in Discord yet? :sicko-luna:
Use github.com/IsmaelMartinez/teams-for-linux (in AUR, if you use Arch). It's an electron wrapper for Teams, no spyware beyond loading the website
Looks like it builds on macOS https://github.com/IsmaelMartinez/teams-for-linux/issues/431#issuecomment-846111383
But if you're concerned about privacy, macOS is not the place to be anyway
well i'll be fixing my old desktop and switching to linux, but macos is my main OS for school and life shit so it doesn't hurt to be more cautious going forward.
