      I don't think there's a reason besides this. Midterms maybe? Make it everyone rally behind democrats? It's certainly not going to work

      The us is trying to invest heavily in microchip manufacturing, and Taiwan is home base for some of the largest chip manufacturing companies. I could see this being a rationale, but I haven't heard it yet
