Love the libs posting the tank man photo in the replies. Yeah, that'll show the tyranny of the evil ceeceepee, horrific graphic video footage of a man where [checks notes] he is not killed, not injured, not threatened with being run over, nor arrested.

I can't find Eugene V Dabs' "Yankees vs Tankies" video where it compares the clip of the Chinese tank stopping in front of tank-man, with footage of some US soldiers in Iraq running a tank over some guy's car just because they're mad at him.

US soldiers in Iraq running a tank over some guy’s car just because they’re mad at him.

It's worse than that, they stopped this guy because he "stole" some wood, then they crush the car and the "stolen" wood with a fucking tank

The comment section in general is really a testament to how the accusation of "Whataboutism" is simply liberal projection. Even if China were this 1984 Torture Circus like propaganda paints it as, trying to deflect to it or Russia/Iran/etc at every criticism of Burgerland should logically disqualify you from using the term.

Redditors expecting the "opressed" chinese ,now finaly free from CPC cencorship, to tell them how much they hate Xi ,how they want Taiwan to conquer them and post Winnie the Pooh memes. Instead they'll get a hundred million CPC supporting, west hating ,educated shitposters brigading every China bad thread and ratioing every China bad tweet

      Would be extremely funny

Libs would rip the mask off so fast. Even the slightest posturing of “hate the country not the people” would be vanished amidst calls for genocide

They are already beginning to plan one for the west. When it goes down theirs will be up in short order. That EARN-IT act is an escalation in the whole 'disinformation' censorship saga we have going on, a probable move to outright banning encryption. Once you do that and cut off VPNs the west can very effectively prevent the small amount of people who want to venture beyond its propaganda outlets from doing so without extreme effort as well as just straight up prevent Chinese/Russian/African/LatAm IPs from using social media platforms, etc in the name of "combating disinformation". At/before that point they of course purge non-western aligned media from social media entirely in the name of that combating disinformation. The west /HAS/ a soft 'firewall' for info but it's becoming harder and will only get more so as the decline accelerates and the reaction turns inwards.

It’s probably going to be weirder. The western internet is based around ads, and if China and other countries have laws restricting harvesting data for profit, those countries may be blocked from the American sites.

I hope that one day the US loses the propaganda war so badly that it's considered common knowledge that they did 9/11

And on that day I'll be happy to be executed as a reactionary for only believing that the US allowed the attacks to happen by a group they funded in the 90s

Imagine thinking the US is competent enough to do 9/11 without 100's of contractors bragging about it on internet forums.

One of my realizations from moving left of liberal was that the US only looks incompetent if you believe it's a democracy. From a materialist POV the American Empire is quite competent at propaganda, overthrowing socialist governments, and broadly furthering the interests of the MIC.

It's still incompetent, they only manage to do those things with massive amounts of funding and an incredible power imbalance. That's why they can't beat China.

I mostly agree. In that case instead of competence, use "ability", which comes from a mixture of competence, funding, and power. The US has great (but not always supreme) ability.

Someone was able to do 9/11---because it happened. IMHO you can't exclude those with some of the greatest ability and the largest motive. In my case, I refused to truly consider it for a long time until I realized it was an emotional (rather than intellectual) hangup.

That's a fair point. I think hanlon's razor is more for the person right in front of you. Like, your burger sucks at a restaurant, it's more likely the chef sucks or screwed up then that they hate you in particular. Or if your Healthcare sucks, it's not because the clerk you filed with doesn't want you treated, it's that the company is bad at its stated purpose.

I often wonder about the direction of information around tom clancy, nat sec shitheads, and intelegence agents

Apparently never enough though, I just realized I never looked up if tom clancy wrote a response to someone doing the plot from one of his books. Or if he was still alive at the time. He probably was right?
