The statue is honestly really sick, it shows christ resurrecting out of a nuclear crater, not sure why they made it the centerpiece of the official audience hall though.

    i have to admit that catholicism has contracted some very nice artworks over the centuries, but i didn't know that "death metal album cover artwork carved out of one absolutely gargantuan tree root" was among them.

    Genuinely awe inspiring art and I guess the point is to have it there, absolutely gigantic and looming overhead at all times. They are literally holding their meetings underneath the shadow of nuclear apocalypse. A very strong message and consistent reminder of what they must work to avoid. It is bigger than any of us.
