thats it. They're still so seething about how it 'destroyed the canon' or whatever. Its got to be some of the most weird form of movie brain worms that they just hated that movie instead of Revenge of Skywalker or whatever it was called, which was one of the worst movies of all time.
Best part of the last jedi, is when Gambo comes out and gets it done
Sorry I was too excited to talk about Gambo and when he Gambo'd the throne. Did you know there are older references to Gambo than the Gambo comics? In the 37th issue of Dr. Strange: Medicine Woman there's a short cameo by Gambo. He's the patron at the bar with the devil-may-care attitude speculating aloud the exact number of thrones.
I always hear that, but like there wasn't much left to build on imo. Same is true of TFA too, imo, so I wouldn't blame Johnson completely.
Yeah I mean I think all the sequels/prequels are shit, but I'm probably not the target audience
Last Jedi was a very flawed gem, but unfortunately almost everything good about Last Jedi was the story it intended to lead up to.
Rise of Skywalker was not just a bad movie, it made the previous movie bad too.
I watched a fan edit that snipped out 75% of the casino subplot and some of the more dragging pacing and honestly it was fine. Fun. The Luke-Kylo-Rey dynamic was unironically interesting and engaging. The extremely slow escape sequence and Disney mandating that Poe and Finn couldn't spend more than 2 minutes on screen together brought it down a little, but other than that it was fun.
Edit: that being said my favorite Star Wars movie was Rogue One (lol) so my onion probably doesn't mean much.
the one that was just a remake of the original was fine if a bit uninspired
the second one was weird and didnt make a lot of sense but it had some cool visuals which is nice
i didnt watch the third one cos i was kinda over it
i cant remember what any of them were called
thank you for coming to my movie reviews page
There were only two good movies, ever. I couldn't watch rise of skywalker crossfaded. I don't expect any more good movies or TV shows until if we survive world war 3 and global warming. You can pry my trashy warhammer fantasy novels from my cold dead hands
I really didn't enjoy any of the sequels, but I was almost 40 when The Force Awakens came out, so I got over it and moved on with my life.
I walked out of the theater with a new freedom I had never experienced, my whole life. I no longer gave a fuck. I had held out hope since childhood. But none of it mattered or would ever matter again. I was truly free.
this is my experience after the 1999 midnight premier of phantom penance
you have NO idea the physical toll that three vasectomies have on a person!
I don't ever want to hear about this movie again in my life :stalin-stressed: why won't the whiny nerds stop talking about it
The only character to be in every single Star Wars movie (he’s snoke and you know it)
The scene where Snoke gets got is an almost word for word call back to the scene in Jedi where Palpatine is tempting Luke.
I remember the guy sitting next to me in the theater saying "the fuck is this shit?" when Luke died. I laughed. Then he looked at me for a second before going right back to his popcorn.
Luke's mom died from being too sad. Dying for no reason runs in his blood, as does killing younglings with a lightsaber.
He doesn't die. He becomes one with the force. Same as Yoda and Obiwan.
I am not saying that that was good storytelling, but I bet you did not expect that, and in the end, that's what counts.
of course, the only thing that matters in making a good story is the subversion of expectations.
Okay but how crazy would it have been if during the scene on the salt planet an asteroid hit the planet and killed everyone I bet you wouldn't have expected that at all
there also just straight up isnt new shit to get obsessed with anymore. That is the only part of culture, when Star Wars came out it wasnt competing with billion dollar legacy IPs from mega corps. It was just a movie. Combine that with the general worsening of everythign and there ya go
I like how, if you listen to the True Fans, there has not been a good Star Wars movie for 40 years. At a certain point you just gotta give up man.
Star Wars fans 🤝 Sonic the Hedgehog fans
The Mandalorian 🤝 Sonic Mania
I remember a thread about how Billy Bob Thornton got married to Angelina Jolie while he was engaged to Laura Dern, who was away for another movie at the time. Some bazinga brain jumped in and started talking about how she deserved it for ruining Star Wars or whatever.
Bazingas are some of the most braindead slugs on the internet. Imagine blaming a single actress for the end product of terribly written Hollywood slop and then wishing for them to suffer. Also Laura Dern is GOATed, these nerds need to learn some fucking respect
