They're playing things really close to the chest with this trailer- almost all the shots are close-ups of famous actor's faces as they react to things off-screen, with the narration basically summarising the first third of the book. Really very few long effects shots of the typical cgi sci-fi blockbuster bullshit, and the scenes we do get to see are all drab saturated grey/brown (even the trailer for BR 2049 had more exciting iconic shots from the film) but at least it ends on one big wormy boi so that's good.
Will the movie be any good? Hell if I know. Can't tell one way or the other from this trailer, other than that it looks like a pretty faithful adaptation.
They shoulda kept the shield effects from the 1984 movie, just to fuck with people. Everything else the same, same cgi everything, all the practical effects the same. But just randomly, the shield effects just look like orange grease wiped on the lens.
Not a huge fan that Caladan looks almost grimier than Arrakis. A lot of the shots look pretty drab and too smooth too idk. Wish it had more of a Lynch's Dune/original Star Wars look to it. Like that very lived-in, worn down sci-fi future look.
Other than that, looks alright. Might be worth catching COVID over.

Reference to Jodorowsky's Dune back in the 70s as he wanted Pink Floyd to score the soundtrack.

Looks cool. I've liked everything Villeneuve has done so far, and I liked the books, so I'll watch it.
I get that the Floyd song is a nod to Jodorowsky, but it really doesn't work. I want to hear Zimmer's score.
