Bolsonaro had Glenn's friend (Marielle Franco) gunned down around the time Car Wash came out to send a message to him. Fucking honestly.

LMAO I just discovered that Glenn blocked me on Twitter. My account is locked and he wasn't following me, so he wasn't able to even see my tweets. I guess he was manually blocking everyone who liked a tweet criticizing him?

Must be using a script or something with API access because twitter also hides likes from people who are private.

He is pry running Twitter with like half-a-dozen algorithmically-generated block lists so his experience is like a curated garden with minimal negative feedback.

I've seen setups like that for social media management.

Oh my god, I've been joking for a while about how his backstory sounds super fucking sus at face value from his wiki page, and how he's playing with rocks in a glass house boosting all these right wingers calling any visible queer person who exists in the vicinity of a minor a "groomer", but I didn't think he had been so open about it.

In 2005, Greenwald took a long vacation to Rio de Janeiro where he met David Miranda, a then 19-year-old who had spent his childhood in the Jacarezinho Favela.[163] Days after they met, the couple decided to move in together; the two would later marry.

Born 1967 so he would have been nearly 40 at that point. Also holy fuck that archived article is so fucking 👁️👁️

Like I get Glenwalds politics have always been shit on a fundamental level, but did he have a COVID stroke or something to make him this specifically stupid?

My read, which could easily be wrong, is that after Russiagate, liberals turned on him, and only right-wing media outlets would give him a platform (and therefore a job). Since then, he's been basically love-bombed by the trumpist right for years.

Yeah. He was always a libertarian, albiet a somewhat left one, with no real theory which is always asking for trouble. I've met a few people over the years that met him even before the Snowdon stuff and they pretty much all said or implied that he was a great journalist but also a total narcissist. So that does seem to track.

I didn't know that, but it couldn't have hit a better person and i wonder if it went to the point where he puked shit, because that's a thing that can happen to people with intestinal blockage.

kinda hope that Bolsonaro legislates to outlaw Glenn's marriage only and then promptly dies before managing to outlaw gay marriage fully

Obviously that rag only published that after Lula won the 1st round and looks good to win the runoff. I'm not sure where Glenn is getting that from, I'd assume someone at The Economist just had a vested interest in something that Bolsonaro has fucked up that Lula won't, regardless of their politics. I also haven't been paying attention to Bolsonaro's treatment in the Western Anglo press. Obviously Fox loves him, but beyond that I haven't seen any pro-Lula pieces.

Lol, the Economist isn't attacking right wing populism, they're dropping their support for an obvious loser to support a winner they know will be constrained in his actions, and trying to make sure he knows it

No no no. The editors of The Economist are simply afraid of the right wing populist message of the anti-rain forest guy who shits out his nose.

All the real Lenin heads know that Economist is bad. So, therefore, by the opposite day logic of Hegel's dianetics, that means Bolsonaro is good.

This is just science. You can't argue with it.

    Contrarian discourse sells well.

Glenn will take the diametric opposite position of anything if it pays well.

Bolsonaro's 'Right wing populism' is just neoliberal bigotry. The man is a homophobe but I'm guessing Glenn is the last person on earth who thinks Trump's trade wars were the return of American industrial capitalism, which i guess would make it all ok.
