Transphobic reactionary academic who made a name for himself by being a transphobic reactionary academic (of course, there are no chuds who reject him for being an academic). He got addicted to benzos because he sucks (like his actual story is funny because of the comedy of errors leading to it) and now he lacks the ability to emotionally regulate in various ways.

The latter is generally ableist to make fun of, but JBP is such a piece of shit, and the origins of this completely self-caused situation so ridiculous, that I, for one, give it a pass as an acceptable dunkable aesthetic. The guy starts crying in the middle of talking about how some old Disney cartoon really says something about modern emasculation (read: he's toying with fascism) or something.

He also tried to debate Zizek on Marxism. The entirety of his prep work was reading most of The Communist Manifesto the night before, lol. It was incredible, though Zizek isn't great at communicating to an audience not already familiar with Marx or Lacan or whatever academic work he's talking about, so a good chunk of people still didn't get home owned JBP was.

I remember watching the start of the zizek peterson debate as a baby leftist who'd literally only read the manifesto and even then thinking that peterson was being a fucking idiot and repeatedly making mistakes about the manifesto that even I could understand were wrong

        According to him, it's:

        • "His job was threatened"

        • "His clinical practice was threatened"

        • Canadian Revenue Agency was "after him" (Canadian version of the IRS).

From his daughter: allegedly, some kind of "autoimmune disorder " to... food. He's on and advocates for an all-beef diet as the treatment, same as his daughter's diet. Lots of quackery around this and confusion over timelines.

I don't know why I remember JBP facts lol

His latest thing was crying on the Piers Morgan show and saying that incels are oppressed people that he wants to speak out for.

Before that Jordan Peterson was banned from twitter for harassing actor Elliot Page. Well he wasn't really banned, twitter said he was suspended until he deleted one of his tweets. He released a 15 minute youtube video crying and saying that he would rather die than delete the tweet. Spoiler: He deleted the tweet a month later and is back on twitter. This interview gave us notable quotes such as "We'll see who cancels who!" and "Up yours, woke moralists!".

His twitter controversy before that was that he was getting weirdly mad about a swimsuit magazine cover. He believed that the model was unattractive and most people disagreed with him. His quote was "Sorry. Not beautiful. No amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that".

He's now hired by Ben Shapiro's company, the daily wire.

He sounds like Kermit the frog. He has some weird obsession with lobsters. He cries spontaneously all the time, mid conversation.

He was addicted to benzos. Benzos are dangerous to quit cold-turkey because benzo withdraw can cause spontaneous death. He traveled to some rehab facility in europe to quit them cold-turkey because rehabs in North America are required to ween people off of them.

He eats an all beef diet. No vegetables or other meats, only beef. This diet is promoted by his daughter Mikhaila Peterson, who is a chud grifter on youtube. He says that the way that they discovered this diet was by eliminating foods that he thought made him sick until only beef was left.

He says he was sick for an entire month from drinking 1 glass of alcohol apple cider. This is in relation to him believing that all food except for beef make him sick.

He refers to feminine qualities as "the dragon of chaos". I honestly have no idea what this means.

In his first book, Maps of Meaning (freudian acrononym MoM) he wrote that he had a sexual dream about his grandmother. (cw https://files.catbox.moe/cmmwud.jpeg )

He wrote 2 self help books, 12 rules of life and Another 12 rules of life. Most of the rules are simple things like stand up straight and clean your room. A few of the rules are obscure things like "always pet cats you see outside" and "don't bother children that are skateboarding".

He popularized and spreads the cultural marxism conspiracy theory, that Marxists are secretly corrupting society through subverting western culture. This conspiracy theory is very similar to the "Cultural Bolshevism" or "Jewish Bolshevism" conspiracy theory that was present in Nazi Germany.

Jordan Peterson did a debate against Slavoj Zizek to prove to everyone that he was superior to a Marxist intellectual. He prepared by only reading the communist manifesto.

He created this phrase "postmodern neomarxism". He used to say it all the time to refer to things as bad. I don't think anyone is quite sure what it means.

Minor nitpick, he said he had read the communist manifesto in college. He did not prepare at all for the Zizek interview and was even googling shit on his laptop live on stage while having the "debate."

I actually watched that debate live on invitation from a Peterson fan, and we cured him of his kermit-brain in real-time thanks to this interview.

He's a Jungian psychologist who got famous for being transphobic in Canada. His deal is that he hooks people in with self-help tips and packages those with a lot of leading questions and observations. When called out for the extremely conservative things he is always implying, he will retreat and claim that he's a centrist who is just asking questions. If there's a protest against him speaking I would say go to it, sounds like fun - but he's not worth suffering fascist violence over.

I've read his book so I'm gonna be generous and say Peterson has a worldview that presents a dialectic between order and chaos, and those broadly refer to stable structured happiness and cruel cosmic indifference. The core of what he believes is about creating one's own little bubble of security within a frightening disorderly universe. That dialectic resolves in the creation of a paradise inside of your own mind, stuff like self-confidence and your own personal identity.

Problems there are Peterson is absolutely wild about what he regards as representative of order and chaos. Men are order, women are chaos. People of your own country are orderly, foreigners are chaos. He says that kind of thing directly. From the Zizek debate, Peterson mentioned frequently that the Marxist concept of reality "denies nature." Because Peterson believes all of reality is hostile and only an ordered, structured conscious mind can carve out safety from it. In his words, Marxism places blame for individual problems solely on class, whereas Peterson would say all of nature is chaotic and is more causal for individual suffering than any particular economic structure.

I'm not well read on clinical psychology much, but I've heard from his peers that he's pretty normal when it comes to the generalities of the field. So he'll often hide his weird shit among very standard, practical psychological advice like cleaning your room or making schedules. So people who actually do need basic life advice will fall for the rest of his rabbithole, thinking it's all part of the same thing. Basically Peterson peddles idealistic horseshit that is banal and obvious when it's correct, and drug fueled bigoted gibberish when it's wrong.

So basically his world view is that the world is fundamentally hostile, and you can only feel safe in a self created mind palace? Thats just foundationally fascist

its his actual "academic" book, i skimmed over it once and it seems to be just him going through old creation myths etc and drawing out the most benzo-addled takes from them

i think this figure is intended to show how the bible proves that women are the chaos dragon from the matriarchal world of darkness, lol definitely an actual work of academic scholarship and not the worlds lamest d&d campaign

Before his rise to fame he was just your average conservative loser who was generally disliked by students and consequently fucked with, had dreams of having his own church, believed his dreams were prophetic, and created nonsensical works and lectures that usually ended up involving the bible somehow. He became a big name for two things to my knowledge, one of them being transphobia; he claimed he wouldn't use pronouns if forced by the state and was one of the proponents of the lies about bill c16. The other big thing being "caring about the poor young men" where he correctly identifies that people are not doing well under capitalism but just suggests usual right wing garbage.

He made a bad self-help book that was primarily average, mundane advice most people have heard like cleaning your room, but mixed in a lot of insane shit with it. From what I remember, he wrote in the book he wanted to throw a toddler, he suggests never letting kids do things you dislike, and he had more sympathy for an alcoholic man than he had for a woman stuck in an abusive relationship. Somewhere along the way he became popular with incels and spewed even more misogyny (i.e forced marriage). At one point there was a site that quizzed you on whether quotes came from Peterson or a fundamentalist Islamic priest, they were indistinguishable. He generally likened masculinity with order and femininity with chaos. Whenever challenged on this or similar controversial things he would bloviate and weasel his way out of answering directly, like one time he was asked if believed in god and he would not give an answer that definitively said yes or no.

He's also a proponent of "cultural Marxism" which is a nazi conspiracy theory. Despite despising the left and socialism, he's obsessed with Soviet art and even named his daughter Mihkaila. His daughter is also very weird and has dated a human trafficker and might have tried to kill him. She gave him covid twice while he was recovering from his Russian benzo treatment. They both are fans of the meat only diet and Peterson claims apple cider got him sick, kept him awake for like 3 days, and gave him a sense of doom. He said this on Rogan where even Joe called him out on that, he immediately back tracked the 3 days. It doesn't seem like he's ever fully recovered from his benzo addiction, like he cries a lot and I think there have been behind-the-scenes anecdotes about him not doing well generally but idk any off the top of my head. He got the Russian treatment because it was a very bad way of going about treating the addiction that would not be done in Canada or the US I think, so that's probably part of it. Benzo addiction is supposed to be very bad and going cold turkey can outright kill you from what I've heard.

I think he's pretty much a joke now, like he's publicly said woman can't be in the workplace with men and he said he was pro-segregation before being challenged, after which he immediately back tracked again. He also brings up fairy tales and stuff a lot while frequently crying. He's also said people quitting smoking was proof of god or only possible because of god, something like that. Peterson was also absolutely owned by Zizek in a debate or some public talk. Olivia Wilde is making a movie with a character inspired by him, she dubbed him the king of the incels I think and called him this weird miserable man or something to that affect. He also backed out of a debate with Richard Wolff after saying no Marxist would debate him.

Him and his daughter generally seem to be just milking their fanbase that's primarily white men doing bad under capitalism, as most people are. I find him particularly disgusting for that because someone I knew fell down the right wing rabbithole because of him. Early on everyone would try to weasel around his obvious right wing tendencies and call him apolitical or center-left, which is obviously bullshit. He's also a climate change denier that takes oil money and on more than one occasion his fans have asked him about the "Jewish question" during his tour.

Cass Eris, an actual psychologist, has an entire series dedicated to ripping apart his book: he's also a bad academic with a ton of noncitated claims and cases of stretching conclusions from different studies. He was once asked to testify and the court just outright labeled him a lunatic more or less. The sub enoughpetersonspam also has a lot of stuff about him.

Benzo addiction is supposed to be very bad and going cold turkey can outright kill you from what I’ve heard.

It's similar to alcohol in that it depresses CNS function and when it's suddenly gone you get a lot of nerves that suddenly don't have this depressant effect able to fire with little to no stimulation which can cause seizures and probably other symptoms including death

I guess I can appreciate that if you have actual psyche credentials there's a lot you can get into, but I'll probably be peacing out after the first couple of parts.
