October 15th's update is here! TLDR? Here's the summary.
Just an update on my situation: I'll almost certainly be moving within the next week or two. The last update for a little while will be next Wednesday, the 19th. I'm going to then take a break to set things up, get to know my surroundings and such. I hope to be ready to start doing this again on the 28th, but I will post that week's megathread on the 24th.
After that, I will hopefully be able to keep doing this more consistently and things will get less busy than they have in recent weeks. I strongly appreciate all the compliments I get and I'm glad to be part of such a great community! :Care-Comrade:

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists, for the “buh Zeleski is a jew?!?!” people.
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict
Add to the above list if you can, thank you.
Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins
Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)
Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.
Telegram Channels
Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Last week's discussion post.
If I hear one more person bring up the "schools are allowing children to identify as a cat, they're putting litter boxes in the classrooms" bullshit, I swear to Christ I'm going to prison.
How fucking gullible can someone possibly be? How do you hear something that outlandish and immediately accept it as fact instead of doing a 3 second internet search for confirmation?
Ummmm people thought China created it's own sun.
People think Russia is bombing their own nuclear power plants, pipelines and bridges.
What's next, they're flying planes into their own buildings?
Dubai is creating its own moon

full of ambient unfocused rage and alienation seeking a target
Yeah what a bunch of gullible people, obviously they'd put the litter boxes in the bathroom with the rest of the toilets
Most of these people are primed to believe this shit due to constant nonstop algorithm-generated content demonizing minorities. Instead of doing puzzles and spending time with their grandkids in their twilight years, old people become neurotic doomscrolling algorithm addicts who are addicted to the anguish they get from reading things that piss them off.
I agree in principle, but I should note that the most recent time I heard this, it was from a 30 year old.
To mirror this sentiment, one entire side of my family believes this from ages 15 to 75
It has the same effect across all ages
I went to a public school in the 90s with corporal punishment, forced participation in prayers and other religious adjacent activities. Kids got mad they could no longer bring their shotguns (gun rack inside of pickup truck) to school after Columbine. Teachers regularly had relations. Saw a few fist fights between students and teachers; and coaches would, by the parlance of our times assault and humiliate students on a daily basis and the kids were worse tbh (as far as violence in sports practices was concerned). Well I guess its time to change my depends so....
yeah my schooling was like 10% nicer than that and I'd still have preferred to have a cat-kid shitting in a box in the corner.
Cat life is the dream 4 sho
Meanwhile teachers actually have buckets for the kids to use when sheltering in place during active shooter lockdowns and that's a-okay :desolate:
If you aren't among the ruling class, or someway identify with it, a prerequisite for being a rightwinger is being a complete fucking moron. It's incredibly frustrating, because they don't seem to believe in anything other than the stuff that makes them angry, but there is unfortunately very little to do other than telling these people that they are dumb as filth for even believing that this is possible.
ong!
