Orwell had a really good quote about avoiding cliche phrasing and such. I can't find it, but basically don't just adopt smart sounding phrasing to seem clever. Genuinely clever language doesn't work like that.
That's incredibly insightful, and I love the term "fertilization of the form" (hate the existence of it though). I think many parents do this as well, trying to train the perfect child instead of raise a good adult.

It's not something easily quoted, it's a wall of text. Look up "George Orwell writing advice" and you will see what he has to say about writing.
