I need to impress this hot annoying guy. No, being honest is not an option, don't be naive.

I'm an INFP, by the way.

Pretend to be interested in it, but keep switching terminology between MBTI, horoscopes, D&D alignments, and Homestuck classpects.

I remember a friend of mine got denied a job because the employers made him do a Meyers Briggs test and apparently they thought his personality type wouldn't mesh

in Subnautica: Below Zero, you can find employee/citizen personnel files of the people who were working at the arctic base, and integrated into their reviews are the Big Five Personality Traits. Alterra is a giant corporation that they work for and are citizens of, since it's big enough to be considered a "transgov" (which should be used for something cooler than 'space Amazon is a sovereign nation') under the galactic colonial charter.

Thing is, afaik that's the closest one there is to one that's actually got some utility. People tend to test pretty consistently on it even with different tests and testers. Probably still mostly bullshit though.

bruh, that's the one cambridge analytica used. it is not only legitimate, it has seen real world applications and has been highly effective in those applications.

I've developed another test as an alternative to Big Five. It's called the Boat Guy Test and it's one question, "Are you a boat guy?" and studies have shown that people who answer yes are more likely to respond to ads about boats, and we can also predict who will answer yes based on their social media profiles. Since this test is useful for real world applications that means it's valid as a personality test :galaxy-brain:

Really? Well, damn, maybe interstellar gigacorporations will be using it centuries down the line.

Four of the "Big Five" are literally the same as the MBTI categories with the names changed slightly. It's the same thing with different branding.

Both of them are 100% fine to be into casually and 100% should never be used professionally.

idk a test that claims that being "rational" and "compassionate" are separate personality traits sounds a bit too fucked to be of any real use

Just ask him his favorite pony, and argue that the best pony is actually somepony else. By the end of the argument he will be madly in love with you, but also loathe the sight of you, which will lead to incredible sex.

Go watch Crystal mommy and crystal daddy tiktok that specialize in astronomy or showing you digital art and telling you you're an alien if you like a certain style. And basically load up on all those vibes but instead of astronomy and crystal energy it's about whatever MBTI is about.

if you want more fun stereotypes:

INTJs are conspiracy theorists who don't leave their houses and believe the government is controlling the people with chemtrails, ENTPs are annoying debatebros who will always be the guy playing devil's advocate just for the sake of it

Edit: Bonus round, ISTJs are most likely to be Eichmann style "I was just following orders" guys, ESTPs are dudes rock jackasses punching holes through dry wall, ENFJs are cult leaders, INTPs are redditors, ESFJs are "no thoughts, head empty" bimbos/himbos who can only giggle and gossip, the list goes on

MBTI really isn't as vague as posts like this make it out to be, you can absolutely look at some types and go "nope, that's not me at all", that's what sets it apart from astrology for me. I still don't take it too seriously, but it's fun.

I'm into it and I consider it largely bullshit as well.

I don't know if the core thing it's based on, the Jungian cognitive functions, is debunked or outdated or maybe even legitimate, so idk if there is something to it at all or not.

But as a matter of fact, 99% of MBTI stuff online is "hahaha, I just looove drinking coffee in the morning, I'm such an ISFJ!" and that really is just astrology.

And tbh, that stuff is a lot more fun. Something in our monkey brains just loves putting labels on ourselves, creating little in-groups and going "TRUUUEEE THAT'S SO ME" like a bunch of clapping seals when someone else in our in-group says something we agree with. And it's also fun to read about how cool and special your type is, my type is INTP which is basically the king of the nerds, and I love MBTI youtubers telling me how smart & logical I am because I'm this type, it's just basic flattery so I want to believe it.

As far as I'm concerned, it's mostly slop like any other. I like talking about it because I find it interesting and fun, but I would never make actual judgments on people based on it.

Hexbears: Reply to this with your MBTI type and I'll tell you why your type is the best or the worst, depending on what you wanna hear.
