@LiberalSocialist, in the future, can you please not post Western imperialist sources for news on China. Can you please use Chinese sources or something more neutral like Al Jezeera?
It's Reuters, not fucking Breitbart. Calm down.
Also, it's hilarious that you're telling me to use Al Jazeera (spelled incorrectly, btw) for China news, when the articles it has on China are no better. In fact, they're the same.
Spot the difference between the article I linked to and this one from Al Jazeera. And this entire article is just lifted from Reuters word for word.
This is because these news agencies get their news from Reuters, AP, NYT etc. At best, they add some commentary. Which is useless UNLESS the news source is a socialist one and the commentary is critiquing the coverage.
And I like Al Jazeera! I prefer it to many other Western outlets. But c'mon.
Reuters is a rag that has a history of twisting Chinese news for the imperialist agenda but go off
Wow, you told me to calm down and corrected my spelling.
I offered you a literal list, albeit an incomplete one, that you can use instead of imperialist sources.
The Al Jezeera article has none of the problematic bits that I've mentioned in other comments.
Edit: fixed a typo
You're replying to the wrong comment here. This one doesn't have any list. Only lists Al Jazeera which you can't even fucking bother to spell properly even after I told you???
Arguing about spelling is peak :reddit-logo: and I'm genuinely concerned for you now, comrade.
The misspelling was purely due to my own ignorance and I'm not going to get baited into caring about it, although next time I'll be careful to use an a instead of an e
Misspelling = racism is the worst take imaginable
This article gives me whiplash. In one paragraph it's saying everyone's terrified of COVID and in the next it's talking some nutjob using a Patric Henry quote, which is definitely very topical and well known in China, at an anti mask protest and trying to say that is the prevailing sentiment in the country.
There is literally no actual information in this article beyond exactly what's needed to rile up Americans who do know that Patrick Henry line and do think anti-maskers are some sort of progressive revolutionary force.
Reuters is probably one of the absolute worst places to go for actual news because their "reporting" is just regurgitating RFA/RFL talking points.
I'm seeing a lot of anti China posts from imperialist news sources from you, comrade. Would you mind stopping please.
Reuters
French business chamber calls for proper COVID 'optimisation'
Dissatisfaction crops up in cities under varying lockdowns
The French Chamber of Commerce in China urged authorities to properly implement COVID "optimisation" measures announced two weeks ago, in a statement shared extensively on social media after the French embassy posted it on its Twitter-like Weibo account on Thursday. The 20 measures, which include shortened quarantines and other more targeted steps, had "given hope" to French companies for more bilateral trade and economic exchanges, but "good policies also need to be implemented in a uniform manner and without adding layers of other contradicting policies", the chamber's statement said.
'DRACONIAN APPROACH'
Literally a few years ago, I used to think that the Western press was fair. Now I can't unsee it.
Edit: why can't we cite Chinese sources, or at least non American???
You really have nothing to say about ‘DRACONIAN APPROACH’ in literal bold with actual scare quotes? The centering of foreign capitalists in the discussion? Really comrade?
Al Jezeera, SMTP, Hindustan Times, WHO, Times of India, Global News, WSWS. All but the latter are covering covid in China in the English language.
Thanks for ignoring me twice about the very problematic language in the article.
Literally all of them get their news from Reuters, AP etc. Often lifted directly, word for fucking word, with just a small citation at the bottom.
Also, FUCKING LOL if think Hindustan Times or Times of India are any less anti-China than Western sources.
The exceptions are things like WHO which isn't a fucking news source or outright socialist sources like WSWS which are better but cannot offer anywhere near the coverage that sources like Reuters provides. They often end up citing the same sources but add some commentary critiquing them.
Yes, it's happening. I assumed this was a kind of test run for the eventual bigger relaxing of security measures, to see how the health care system handles big waves which we only had a small taste of last year, but I'm not sure.
My city has reported cases, which hasn't happened since autumn last year. I'm triple sinovaxed, and so are most people I think, so hopefully we'll be okay.
Lol at the Chinese guy quoting Patrick Henry, definitely meant for Chinese audiences and not the hogs in America
