The got damned RPD went woke and refused to shoot zombies on sight!
Jill didn't have much of a character "to ruin", she's just nice female #001
Pretty much. George Romero penned a script to the original Resident Evil and in it he had Chris Redfield as a native american, had that come out today it would have sent G*mers :frothingfash:
That's before they make it PG-13, add Kevin Hart as the funny side-kick, and get the Russo Bros to direct. Then the budget tops Avatar.
I would pay good money to see a cyborg t-rex fall on top of a General Custer type guy
I know Turok Evolution is considered a bad game but the ending was pretty cool. He's just standing over this cowboy guy like "You don't deserve a warriors death." And just leaves him for the dinosaurs to eat.
I know!
Like, you could just take snips out of all the games and make something really cool with it
Of course, you'd also want to make sure you either avoid the weird Magical Native American stuff, but that wouldn't be too hard
That's the thing with these comic and video game characters though, isn't it. They're mostly just a character design which in Jill Valentine's case is "attractive white lady with brown hair, usually worn in a bob" (except when she's mind controlled, then she becomes blonde because uhhh)
Mind controlled characters always get palette swapped so the (dumb, gamer) audience can tell the difference.
I guess the stupid spy catsuit with the massive boob window was a bit too subtle
"Nooo you don't understand, she needed the boob window so the mind control device is easily accessible to anyone!"
And hot Chris redfield and manhandle it off her chest with big bulging biceps.
except when she’s mind controlled, then she becomes blonde because uhhh
the scientific term for that phenomenon is "bimbofication"
they actually explain why she became blond. " due to the reactivation of her prior t-Virus infection" from the RE wiki
Honestly none of the player characters in RE have much personality, at least in the games. People view Ethan Winters as generic but I would say he's easily the most three dimensional of all the mainline protagonists because he's more than just a quip machine like Leon or soldier man like Chris.
Jill is probably my favorite RE character and this is 100% true. RE was never exactly about complex and compelling character writing
The characters I love best in RE are the endearingly stupid ones. Like in RE2make, Leon comes across as completely clueless and never fully understanding what's going on, but possessed of good enough instincts and fitness that he excels in an emergency situation without the capacity for conscious thought
And Ethan is so fucking dumb he doesn't think there's anything weird about stapling his severed limbs back on with no ill effects. He is the dumbest video game protagonist of all time and I love him for it.
How would you differentiate jill from claire, Or jill from Helena? They are all "nice woman who aren't bad and kick ass". You can put jill in RE2 and she would've acted exact same as claire.
Ada is cool though
The adventures I've been through with her. REmake and 3 were very memorable experiences, and Jill is the vessel for those experiences. I also liked how she was portrayed in RE3make. Beyond that, I agree with you.
And Ada absolutely is cool
Ada rules when she's not being irritatingly evasive about everything, but then again that's her canonical job so
I can't be objective with resident evil characters, they make me smile
Resident Evil is the same series where Chris Redfield, one of the main characters, has a completely different face and voice actor every game. Jill being black one time is not that much of a stretch.
Oh this is Jill Valentine? Cool!
Is this like a remake of 1 or something? Again?
I think it's from the movie that came out in 2021, I don't know much about it though
The latest from the right wing sphere is constantly amusing to me. DeStantis' obsession with the word "woke" and his subsequent success with his election has conservatives mindlessly repeating the word everywhere because they think it is a winning strategy.
It's so easy to bully people over saying this phrase, even to the degree of simply asking them what it means.
It sounds so dumb. The only reason it has any kind of success is because Democrats have don't really know how to combat the term because they won't attack the Republicans for using it. You can see from the shower of downvotes that the rightoids hated the call out but can't explain why.
A perfect hit piece ad against people who use this phrase could be: "Republicans hate you being awake to see society's problems, because they know... like any criminal... you are most vulnerable when you are asleep."
I got twice more downvotes than the screenshot showed. I didn't call anyone racist, i didn't say jill should be black or poc. I just wanted to know what "woke" meant to them. Obviously if i asked "is woke being black to you?" They would've answered No. I really wonder what's on their head.
Men do the violence in movies, women are the man’s reward at the end for a job well done
"Woke" as a cloak for everything white supremacists don't like is going to get worse
Anytime I see a non-white straight male on my tv, I start screaming "WOKE!" and throwing food.
NGL, racist pricks aside, I’d prefer to see a new set of characters within the events of universe over a straight up adaptation. If it’s good, it expands the universe positively and can stand on its own, but if it’s bad, it won’t drag down the adapted material (Witcher be like). But that’s just me.
