And they said this website wasn't loaded with cookies.
They're jeombeuls. An archaic kind of cookie that made a thick dough with flour, sugar, butter, maybe almond meal, maybe rosewater, caraway, anise, and stuff.
I was inspired to look them up and make them by IHJC's post a week ago.
First batch burned a little (was distracted by an obligation) but the second one was like a seasoned shortbread. Would bake again.
Could I get a link to the recipe? I tried looking it up, but I could not find it at all somehow.
This was in the links on the wiki page
https://web.archive.org/web/20120717061521/http://www.foodtimeline.org/foodcookies.html/#sugarcookies
Of course I mushed the recipes together tho, and made what I felt like making
What I ended up doing was 3:1:1 flour-butter-sugar (little lighter on sugar), with a quarter cup of almond flour, two egg yolks, 2oz of rose water, dash of anise extract, and 1 tbsp of caraway seeds, baked at 375 F for 20m.
Thanks so much for the info! I'll have to make them for sure this weekend.
