Goddamn I hate how unimaginative people can be. Blah Blah blah capitalist realism blah blah blah easier to imagine end of the world...

It's not that fucking hard to have a crumb of imagination and see things going slightly differently. This kind of stuff really throws me down a spiral.

No indiginous people have to matter to history or the world.

What lack of collective human spirit does to a MFer

This is not really a lack of imagination, as much as it is the direct negation of it.

This person is very deliberately making the argument that our imagined ideals for what the world could be like, aren't the actual material reality of things. That the material reality of things is that Liberal Capitalism has defeated all of it's social & ideological competitors, and that it managed to do this because more people want Capitalism than Socialism. And so you should shut the fuck up & get in line if you want to actually matter to global society.

Of course this is argument is both about 30 years worn by now, and predicated on the material reality of 30 years ago continuing uninterrupted into the forseeable, & unforseeable future.

So it is really quite spurious.

if any culture wants their stories to be heard, then they have one single choice: allow giant multinational corporations to find profit in it

You jest, but this is their philosophy.

:grillman: thinks he is superior because he is the best treat. He works more and will even turn down pay increases because "muh honor" (however, he does demand some privileges in society for him and people who share his skin tone, for they are the best treats).

It's like if you're a cow in the fields and you realized the farmer is going to slaughter you, but the prize dairy cow smugly laughs because you're clearly jealous that you aren't the prize cow.

The real reason TIL keeps recycling the same facts over and over isn't because there aren't interesting facts to learn, it's because there are precious few that the mods find acceptable.

I mean they’re striking in the direction of a correct take - our pathetic superstructure only exists to make profit for the base. But yeh the rest of the stuff about how the world has “chosen” this turn of events is :brainworms:

Was about to say, this is the marxist theory of superstructure and base except filtered through the moron filter that applies to everything libertarians post on Reddit.
