This is a good illustration of why room clearing is almost entirely bullshit. If it works you weren't under threat. If you are under threat you're going to get your ass kicked no matter how good you are at pieing corners. Even pieing corners is ridiculous - your opponent can just shoot you through the wall. At knife fighting ranges a drywall structure won't even slow a bullet down.

Keystone cops is so wild from a modern perspective the idea of not just a few but entire departments of cops being depicted as mean, stupid, brutal, and totally incompetent, played for laughs, is almost unthinkable in the era of wall to wall copaganda.
There's moments in 80s-90s action films like Terminator and others that sort of approach this vibe to a degree in certain contexts, but it surely has become far less common to depict it positively or even in a 'neutral' way. The idea of police state incompetency and corruption has been relegated to the conspiracy thriller genre in the last few decades.
The overwhelming emphasis on cqb and room clearing among tacticool gun nerds is, i think, an interesting example of how america's imperialist wars have effected the public psyche.
There's rarely a legitimate reason to breach and clear a building. In a real war you use explosives, artillery, incendiaries, or air support to destroy fortified structures or places where you suspect enemies are ("avoiding civilian casualties" isn't a real thing). Actually going in to a building and doing room to room fighting means something has gone ridiculously wrong. It's the most hopelessly lethal kind of infantry combat; people unloading with machine guns, grenades, bombs, and whatever else at ranges where there are no tactics and no effective defense. Skill doesn't matter, training doesn't matter. It generally comes down to who starts throwing grenades first.
Cops only breach and clear buildings (very very badly) because they're idiot larping cowboys and they know, whether they admit it or not, that the chance of facing resistance of any kind is near zero. It's pure sadistic masutrbation so they can get off on the adrenalin of thei fake danger and brutalizing civilians.
Soldiers only breach and clear buildings when they're doing imperialist occupation shit. Again; the risk is low. If they expect serious resistance they usually just blow the whole building rather than risk it, civilians be damned.
Cqb tactics are basically useless. If you're breaching against fortified, aware, motivated enemies you're either going to saturate the room with grenades until everyone inside is dead or dying, or they're going to shoot the first guy through the door then kill the entire stack while the stack trips over the first man's body.

But civilian shooters who do tactics shit focus heavily on cqb and room clearing shit. Irl the only time civilian shooters are going to really be in the cool zone is either going to be an absolute slaughterhouse when a protest finally goes hot, or doing guerilla shit. Ambushes, drive bys, breaking in to sectarian enemies houses at 3am and killing everyone inside.
But no one trains for situations civilians would actually need a rifle for.

This. We have long figured out how to murk dudes in civilian settings while minimizing the risk of getting shot ourselves. Just shoot someone out of a moving car. Shoot them when they're sleeping. Just pop out of nowhere with like 4 other dudes and shoot a guy while he's at a cafe with the boys. That's how the mob does it, that's how the cartels do it too. Cowardice goes a long way in not dying.
But that shit is not as fun to "practice". That doesn't make you feel like a tough badass. This room clearing stuff is exciting to practice because it does put you in line of fire. Which is also why nobody ever does it in real life.
I'm the first to admit that I'd immediately piss my pants if I got into an actual life-or-death situation where someone might shoot me, but at least I don't delude myself into thinking otherwise.
