This is a really interesting tiktok because it's basically the leftist meme about too much text.... Except on tiktok this has caused the algorithm to boost the fuck out of it.

Why? Because in order to understand wtf the video is on about people have had to focus really hard, pause it multiple times, and watch it more than once. The AI has viewed this behaviour as engagement and multiple views of a video is considered a good thing by the algo.

Not to mention that it is immediately triggering for the libs because US and propaganda is in the first screen while socialism and capitalism is in the next couple seconds. This causes the triggered people to hate-watch it.

Leftists can do well on tiktok by throwing out everything they know about "memeing" and leaning into many things we tell ourselves not to do elsewhere.

I tried to read the quote at the end and gave up after tiktok automatically unpaused+restarted the video four times, I did my part. :07:

If this person doesn't have a youtube or a podcast where they explain this stuff in a better format I feel like they're missing out, this video by itself seems like it could contain enough information to be a Blowback season or something.

The amount of stimulation they expose themselves to is wild. It starts with a video, but there's an overlayed audio clip referencing another meme, then there's text over the video, in the corner there's a "live react" webcam of someone watching the main content, and there's a smashcut every 2 seconds so you can't keep track of what's going on, and as soon as it ends, it autoplays the next video, which is some teenage girl in volleyball shorts doing a vulgar dance. Oh and it's all played at 2x speed

It has probably been successful specifically because it's too fast, causing people to watch it multiple times and telling the algorithm they have high interest in it.

Previous generations just wrote increasingly obscurantist texts to pass the "peer review" algorithm

Or it's too fast to really teach anything explicitly leftist and is getting traction with general audiences who have largely incoherent or fascist/ancap beliefs and readily agree with the general "government bad" vibes they get from the video without digging any further.

I do not encourage generational discourse, but zoomers watch shit at 2x speed because they are little media consumption gremlins.

This, I was lucky enough to have been highschool to college with the creation of Vine, and had been a gradeschooler to middleschooler during YouTube video memes first arising. Watching traditional news is fucking torture to me, not to mention 90% of news being regurgitated shit boomers watch of reactionaries repeating a screed ad nuaseum. Anything that isn't a speed vid or quick read with periods of pausing are talks with Parenti or Chris Hedges playing in the background that helps to vibe me out.

holy shit what a garbage fucking website. The video ends and it just completely switches the page on you before you can do anything. And it's not even a new page so you can hit the back button it just completely wipes the screen from whatever you're looking at in an applet.

I think this is the first time I actually went to tiktok and I fucking hate it so much already
