Gotta be honest I feel like the "No, I just like hot chicks" bit seems a lot less creepy than whatever other auteurs try to pull to also include hot chicks but for art. More honest?

Those artists who just like the hot girl shit also tend to not draw scenes to be horny when it would be fucking gross.

Like no sexy poses while having violence done to them.

I think because they are upfront about it, when they want to draw Robin being hot, it will be a scene that it makes more sense, like posing an outfit and enjoying SOME OF THE REACTIONS, as Oda also shows acting like Sanji and Brook while funny deserves a slap. Also they are drawn not sexy crying over her friends dying.

Basically One Piece is good, Metal Gear V is bad. Also the girl in the bikini wears it soo she won’t SUFFACATE, she’s not doing it to be oogled despite the game doing it, and is shown as uncomfortable with it.

There was one time a fan from China or Taiwan sent him a letter and his response was essentially

"China, huh? I love Chinese women, especially when they're wearing them cheongsams OH BOY :awooga:"

    The dude is horny

      Like, he ain't wrong.

But one thing always gets me. Every time I'm with a white woman and we're watching some East Asian movie or at an event sponsored by a non-European social group, they always look at the clothing of foreign women and express intense jealousy. I can't count the number of times I've heard someone say "I wish I could wear a Chinese / Indian dress for my wedding".

And all I can do is scream in the back of my head "You absolutely can! Release yourself from ethnic norms! Embrace foreign fashion! Its all good!"

Cheongsams are fucking fire. Saris look incredible. Yoruba are so damned colorful and bright. Reject Macy's Thought. Dress like you're not from around here.

I can very easily imagine a photo of a bunch of white Americans dressed in Chinese clothing for a wedding being mercilessly dunked on here

I can very easily imagine a photo of a bunch of white Americans dressed in khakis and polos for a wedding being mercilessly dunked on here. The bar for dunking is low.

I 100% saw this on this site last year. We need to understand that engaging in other cultures, and even transforming them, is cool, not cringe.

Yes, cultural appropriation is a problem, but only when you're grossly misunderstanding or cheapening culture, typically deliberately for personal gain and/or profit.

Yeah, cultural appropriation isn't a bad thing so long as you respect the culture and the people who's culture you're appropriating

Conflating it with racist Halloween costumes is just pure liberalism

White women wearing qipao is cultural appropriation. For all that white women say their decisions were based in respect and appreciation for another culture, that respect or appreciation didn’t seem to include the thought that perhaps actual members of that community might be hurt by their choices. It only went so far as to allow them to do what they wanted to do in the first place.

Cultural appropriation is a member of the majority culture taking from a minority culture with a lack of understanding, awareness, or sensitivity. In other words, without giving anything negative or contrary to one’s own desire a second thought.

I can see why it hurts cultures to be grossly misunderstood and turned into gimmicks out of extreme ignorance or chasing profit. Why does it hurt minority people for a white woman to normalise and appreciate their cultural dress?

I think I read the essay the girl wrote many years ago, and I agree that its bad that the Chinese girl felt that she would be made fun of/treated badly if she wore her own traditional dress. But the bigger issue to me was she surrounded by racists more than the white girl getting away with it.

Oda unapologetically wears his horniness and all of his fetishes on his sleeve, there's so many dominant women in One Piece it would be weirder if it wasn't his fetish

    I fucking love him
