He is developing China towards a more socialist path when that's not necessarily the choice he could have chosen - certainly a realist (see their awful healthcare system)
This sounds like Xi knows that the US is set up to have a two party system and that even if a communist party gained traction in votes/representatives it would simply become the Democrats or Republicans without a mass movement behind it. No current leftist party in America has a mass movement to ride on or lead

I mean he joined the same party that caused a lot of issues for his family by purging his father, so it's definitely on brand
