    (D)

The United States is also a one-party state but, with typical American extravagance, they have two of them.

Reminder this is New York so this is supposed to be one of the "more lefty" Democrats.

The thing about "liberal" states like New York and California is that they're more effectively just democratic strongholds which include chuds who understand the only way to be viable is by putting a (D) next to their name. Substance-wise, it's only marginally different from "battlegrounds".

This is something liberals seem to forget when they think all the progressive measures would get passed with decades of a Democratic majority. These states show that it wouldn't the case at all with the amount of neoliberals allowed in the party.

i just read some article about how so many cities and states in the US have these plainclothes (i.e. secret police) community terror squads. like the Scorpion Unit in memphis that just brutally murdered that guy on CCTV, or LA's Rampart back in the 90s, or the CRASH unit in the 80s. like they are everywhere now and form the tip of the spear as the death squads of overpoliced communities, have the highest rates of death inflicted on civilians, brutality complaints, etc. all the most toxic and evil metrics.

and that Eric Adams used to be one of those guys. fucking terrifying that one of those evil fucks runs the kingdom of NYC.

This has been the whole history of humanity. Deeply flawed species.

Hands clasped in prayer cannot hold a gun

That's why you get Bible verses etched on the gun instead

I mean, no, what this conservative talking point is saying that secularism leads to violence because people have no moral code without religion.

Yea, you just usually only get that from explicitly conservative republicans, rather than weird dem cranks

Not like most school shooters come from a heavily religious conservative demographic or anything. No we should double down on the strategy that has caused the problem instead of solving it. Also school shootings have happened throughout American history, only the reporting on it has changed.

He wants your kids to choose between having the Bible and a gun. Can you believe it? I think Adams left his big boy pants at home. If I were mayor kids would have both:a-little-trolling:

Still remember that time when a lib family member of mine sent me a link of Fareed Zakaria smugly touting Eric Adams' win over "radical idealists" as the path forward for the "left".

Gee, I sure am feeling this win.

Fareed is such a dumbass. He was also on John Oliver praising Modi by saying India was taking the more realistic turn away from Socialism that ruined its economy.

If anything, India is what happens when you try to strike a “balance” between violently conflicting interest groups whilst still remaining capitalist. Nehru (who was about as left wing as the British Labour Party) implemented the License Raj which was many things, but socialist wasn’t one of them.

Of course, when your a fash-apologizing neolib like Zakaria, does it matter?

        Fareed Zakaria

Ivy-educated newsroom tool that labels himself a 'centrist'. Why do people take them seriously these days?

The entire ballot sucked. Adams was just the shitty cop running during a wave of anti-crime histeria. Had we been in an anti-teacher's union panic or an anti-Muslim wave year, we'd have someone differently awful.

This man has clearly never been to Guatemala. Heavily religious and still one of the murder capitals of the world.
