There is something to be said about leftist organizations and institutions being captured by Liberals who "agree" with the empathy that leftist movements are inherently capable of, and neutering them into more ineffective liberal instances of incoherence.
Jacobin is the DSA of American left media, with all its liberalism and anticommunism and occasional redeeming qualities.

In fairness, the Rightists didn’t want the NEP to go on in perpetuity, just for a bit longer. Obviously with hindsight of 1941 onward Stalin had the right approach, but it cannot be underestimated why the NEP was instituted to begin with.
