I recently watched grandmaster of demonic cultivation after reading reverend insanity and want more gay bros cultivating chi together.
Thanks all, those are some great recs
Damn I thought that meant cultivation as in cultivating crops and shit.
Got excited for nothing.
Same. I have no idea what this post means. My most :jesse-wtf: moment so far on this site
It's a fantasy genre, has power levels and stuff. Based mostly on Taoism and some influences of Buddhism, but very high fantasy with stuff like killing god-tier beings in the end. I find it really weirdly appealing, especially in contrast to anime fantasy nowadays.
They're talking about Wuxia shows, a genre of Chinese literature/television where martial arts masters meditate regularly to gain supernatural powers / immortality, this is called cultivation. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is probably the most well known to western audiences.
So in dumb guy terms, this is like DBZ but Goku meditates to go super saiyan instead of screaming?
Basically, but it's more like Naruto than DBZ in the range of abilities and setting. Like most cultivators belong to various clans and most of their feats are exaggerated martial arts, aside from things like making their swords fly with their minds or summoning zombies with a magic flute. At least one character is likely to be poisoned by a dart made with a rare herb at some point in the story.
Farmers Only but it's an app that only allows TikTok-style videos of people preparing, caring for, and cultivating their fields or gardens.
It's like that except no one is jacking it and afterwards they can run across tree tops and summon zombie armies to take vengeance on the evil warlords clan.
da wang rao ming. It is actually kinda mid Shonen. It is cool to see what they do with cultivation for a mid Shonen though. The opening song got real popular a little while back and you can see how much of the budget they dropped on it. Maybe because or is is chinese in origin class conflict does seem to be a large part of the early story. I dunno
Absolutely watch the legend of Hei. Is a movie, not a show but is effectively if Studio Ghibli made dragon ball z
Handsome Siblings was pretty fun, it's just bros cultivating chi together though.
There's been a few iterations over the years but it's about twins separated at birth, one is raised by scoundrels and the other is raised by the S tier clan whose leader has vowed revenge against their dead father by raising one to assassinate the other.
I enjoyed it quite a bit. The Netflix version goes for like 40+ episodes so it's enough to sink your teeth into.
I did not know there was a live action, guess I have to watch it now lol. Thanks for the recs
Not sure of live-action shows/movies, but if you enjoy cultivation - I'd definitely recommend checking out some web-serials or translated xianxia Beware of Chicken (slice of life cultivation), Memories of the Fall, or like Qi = MC^2 (redditor cultivation)
