All the people in the comments coming up with situations where some poor overworked soul with no time to game (one comment said "someone who only has 1-2 hours a day to play games", lmao) and needs this or else they'll never see the upgraded weapons. Everyone ought to experience the whole of the game. A very egalitarian argument, yes yes.

Okay but... What about the overworked people who ALSO don't have a bunch of cash to drop unlocking things in the game they already paid 60 bucks for? Don't they also deserve to experience the whole of the game? Why is Capcom charging money for this at all if it's just a wholesome consumer-first action?

Back in my day, if we wanted to cheat, we inputted something like X R2 Triangle Square X X while on the main menu and got unlimited weapon upgrade codes. People are acting like giving these things out is taking them from some reserve Capcom has.

God. I go back on twitter for ONE thread on something as irreverent as video games and already I feel pissed off at how stupid people can be.

Its almost as if gamers think there isn't an alternative like, IDK, not making game objectives so grindy that there is little to no possibility of achieving it unless you spend an ungodly amount of hours playing. But of course, the grind is part of the experience to them and taking it away would water the experience down and make it too "casual".

Fuck. I wish I had 1-2 hours a day to play games. I’m lucky to get in a couple of hours a week

Lol reminds me of the arguments about how WOW level packs are good because it’ll let poor working class people skip 2000 levels in order to play the good content instead of just, you know, getting rid of old shit and just selling the good content in the first place

Me too. I got a small collection of old 16bit and 32bit games and I probably play them as much as any game from beyond 2015.

g*mers are a perfect audience for capitalists. They have a lot of money, they fall in love with certain titles (and become incredible loyalists) and they're more than willing to combine these two elements to buy buy and buy. So the capitalist class belonging to the gaming industry will not only exploit it's own workers, they will also seek to massively exploit the players as well, and since they have "emotional attachments" to their vidya, they will act as unpaid mercenaries to defend their practices in social media and shit.

Paying money to remove the feeling of accomplishment of fully upgrading a weapon.

I would just ignore microtransactions like this in single player games, but their very existence opens up the possibility that the developers compromised the game in order to encourage buying them.

the difficulty curve on plants vs zombies 2 and the very inclusion of the "hotbar" super abilities in the game's design were directly caused by mtx and that game sucks shit because of it.

Microtransactions on full games people bought are fuxking stupid. I don't really care much about free games with mtx though

It feels so good pirating games or buying them from some third party Russian guy for 5% of the price
