And they planted shitty non-native trees that current generations of the conservation corps are removing because tamarisk trees are actually awful! The more you know.
(I'm not saying planting trees is bad, it's good for sure, but it's important to plant the right trees for the environment.)

This is a good documentary on how they were able to do it.Great idea too, wiping out deserts will help stop the spread of desertification from climate change. I remember reading about how China has some of the most desertifiiable land out there and making new forests at strategic locations will help tons.
Yep, we might quibble with the Three Gorges Dam, but it'll keep their key agricultural lands stable up to the 2080s even in the worst case climate change scenario.
They've exported their techniques to a lot of African nations , and I believe "The Great Green Wall" project has come out of that exchange.

It’s simple: We eradicate all of the desert except for a tiny bit where the only sand worm remaining who is also our God Emperor lives.

Unthinkable to think they ruined a perfectly good desert. I would’ve put a little pool in it and started a successful private beach resort.
