DeSantis scares me because he appeals to the "reasonable" conservative demographic. The type you find in California, the upper middle class beurocrats, the federalist society, the old money business leaders who think Trump is a fool who makes conservatives look bad.

I watched this video and the way he carries himself and speaks makes him seem so "reasonable" and "respectful".

I grew up around those lizard people and I guarantee that they'll be throwing their weight behind him, not Trump.

Haven't we also had plenty of reclusive, less social, high society presidents? Wasn't HW Bush a DeSantis type?

Yeah, and the right abandonned him after a single term in favour of bigger freaks and louder carnival barkers. I don't really know if we will ever get another H.W. type Republican again, now that the hogs have had a taste of the good life with one of them in charge. Hell, even W. Bush only really became president because his dad pulled every string he had access to, and Dubya still had to cheat.

And he manages to court that group while still appealing to the absolute hogs by owning the libs. The hogs prefer Trump but they’ll happily get behind DeSantis

No way dude he's got more anti-charisma than Cruz. You know where the only Ted Cruz supporter I know went after he lost the primary? To Laos, to remove mines, paving the way for the BRI Singapore-Kunming Railway (the name of which belies the extent to which these railways cover Indochina).

What will the humiliated Desantites do?

Politics is Television. Donny is the irreversible fusion of news and 'reality' programming.

He's got name-recognition, personality cult, and stage-presence. News outlets point their cameras at him and ratings skyrocket. DeSantis may have red-meat policies, but when have voters ever cared about that?

When have what voters cared about ever mattered?

Eh, it doesn't matter. Trump is allowed to diddle kids in the right-wing mind because he's at the top of the totem pole.

While it would be funny, there is probably a good chunk of the DeSantis freaks that don't want to get murdered via truckbombing or by having a F-150 rammed through their campaign headquarters. And DeSantis himself is definitely not trying to go scorched earth on the single most popular right wing political figure of the past 20 years.

I mean, Trump won against Hillary. I don't think he really considers her a threat, and hasn't since november 9th 2016. On the other hand, if DeSantis begins going scorched earth, Trump would probably begin going on "will someone rid me of this meddlesome governor" style rants, which some of them are absolutely going to take as a call to arms.

Was that before or after he beat her? Because I mostly remember those rallies from campaign in 2016, and not a hell of a lot after, but that might be me misremembering. My main point was mostly that trumps hogs have gotten MORE unhinged and with an even looser grip on reality than they had in 2016 and thus would be a lot easier to goad into violence.

Why do the nazis, in all their mortal terror of the gays and the weak and soyboys/bugmen and all that, always go for the effete Baron Harkonnen style leaders? SAD! :thicc-trump:

Genuinely baffled that some people think this guy is a strong candidate. Dude is every losing right-wing strategy in the last 20 years wrapped up in a shit sandwich.
