In this depiction, Satan's crotch is at the center of the planet (the Latin label is "Center of World)". Dante and Vergil climb down Satan's torso and (due to the reversal of gravity relative to Satan's body) up Satan's legs to reach Purgatorio, which is on the opposite side of the planet from the 9th Circle.

At the end of the Divine Comedy (spoilers lol) it is revealed that the Empyrean and God are ultimately the primum mobile that imparts motion to the rest of the cosmos. When Dante looks back, he sees that it is actually Earth that is flung out to the outer edges of the universe and God is at the center of the universe - this is similar to a geometric transformation called a circle inversion, which is interesting because inversive geometry wasn't discovered until the early 19th century. Satan was therefore cast as far as possible away from heaven, literally the outer edges of the universe and ultimately his junk is the the point at infinity.

Yeah, though Satan himself also revolves at the same rate because he is embedded in the ground.

Is this a depiction of the divine comedy? If so then that is the last, frozen over, layer of hell. :tito-laugh:

This means that Satan's penis is not a vortex. But is instead, very, very, very, cold. :the-more-you-know: :freeze-peach:

Frozen in time? When does it say that?

Do you remember that not being a thing? I thought that was a common description but it could be like a common assumption instead. Googling it doesn't seem to outright deny it? Could easily be something from any of the endless pieces of media that refence this too. :stress:

Im just going to go with the image of people being eternally stuck in satan's frozen fart cloud and move on with my life instead of re-reading Christian literature for a fart joke. :doomjak:

Maybe if its not written outright its from the assumption that absolute zero = no physical motion and that without physical processes happening that "time" therefore wouldn't advance either

The Inferno predates the concept of absolute zero by about 300 years.

Which doesn't conflict with your statement at all... I misread lol

He also flaps his wings constantly (in the book) in an attempt to get out but it just keeps freezing hell colder and colder and keeps the ice he's embedded in solid.
