Yeah, but like, it's fine. They have a unique set of abilities and patience/need for validation. They can't really gain any wider purchase with people, they can't really afford to be deanonymized because they'd spend years going through hell.

It's not that unique; many cybersecurity experts regularly have to reverse engineer the binaries of various malware, and it's just as fucked up and uses much of the same tricks as DRM.
It's just that you need the right combination of the skillset, the motivation to crack it, and the time to do it. Empress has all three.

From what I understand, Empress isnt' entirely unique from a "skill set" point of view. However Empress is one of the only people who is motivated enough to apply said skill set to crack videogames, rather than go work for either a government agency or some sort of cyber security consultancy. Also, if Empress is ever caught they are likely to get drawn and quartered, so if they seem on edge I sort of understand it.
