The "recognition" from the UN in 1948 took place when most of Africa was colonized and many of the countries in the global south were essentially bullied into it. So it's all good that the world is on the side of Palestine, but Palestine is more than just the '48 or '67 borders or whatever

If the charred remains of hundreds of children is not enough to spur someone to support the entire dissolution of a genocidal state, they will not be convinced by any honeyed words we speak.

First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and that when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress. I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that the present tension in the South is a necessary phase of the transition from an obnoxious negative peace, in which the Negro passively accepted his unjust plight, to a substantive and positive peace, in which all men will respect the dignity and worth of human personality. Actually, we who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. We bring it out in the open, where it can be seen and dealt with. Like a boil that can never be cured so long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must be exposed, with all the tension its exposure creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured. How? We can acknowledge we lack the power to force Europeans and Americans to go back home, but we shouldn't entertain the idea that the occupation is anything other than stolen land and a history of genocide. At the very least it should only be a forced compromise that we can't get the Palestinians their homes back but that we never let the occupation try and fool people into thinking it's their land; they only have it because we don't have the power to force them to go back home. We should be working on correcting people's understanding of what Israeli territory actually is, and what the nature of the settlers are.

If my home is invaded by a guy with a gun, and no one can force him out, the least people can do is acknowledge that the man is a criminal and that we're only putting up with it because we lack the power to make him leave, not that now the man is the new rightful owner and that I should be the one to leave, and quietly too. The goal should be to teach people of what Israel truly is; it's at least one way to encourage a global BDS movement.

Because the implication is that you want to eliminate israel, then people read this shit and go on tv and say explicitly that they want to eliminate israel. The average viewer and even progressives see that shit and think anyone who calls out the genocide is calling for the dissemination of israel. It does matter what you say, and flipping to the opposite extreme will NEVER happen while the US is there, but a ceasefire COULD happen with enough public pressure.

Take a wild guess as to what happened in South Africa in 1960 and 1976 during peaceful demonstrations when people were simply demanding the Apartheid segregationist laws repealed. Also your arguments are verbatim the Apartheid-era "white genocide" word for word.

The only way a ceasefire is possible if ISISrael is sanctioned much in the same manner as South Africa and the bloodthirsty ethnonationalist regime dismantled. idf-destroyer

This is how you lose support for your cause. If you actually care about palestinians, a ceasefire is the only viable option.

More like gain support, you dumbass.

“I’m convinced that many of the very people who supported us in the struggle in the South are not willing to go all the way now. I came to see this in a very difficult and painful way. In Chicago the last year, where I’ve lived and worked. Some of the people who came quickly to march with us in Selma and Birmingham weren’t active around Chicago. And I came to see that so many people who supported morally and even financially what we were doing in Birmingham and Selma, were really outraged against the extremist behavior of Bull Connor and Jim Clark toward Negroes, rather than believing in genuine equality for Negroes.”

From MLK, this is basically you you fucking dipshit.

Oh no those poor white people! God, I wish there was some precedence to look towards for what happens to colonizers when their colonization project gets destroyed; but alas this has never happened! I can only conclude that the colonizers will face retributive justice relative to the atrocities they've committed.

Genuinely though South Africa and Rhodesia show that when these crybully Nazis get their racist state taken away they just move to Europe or the US so they keep getting white privelege. Elon Musk is one of the richest men alive and he's Afrikaner.

Did you know that in South Africa, a great source of shame among the white minority is that there was no retributive violence when apartheid ended? Black people did not go and commit mass murder against their oppressors. The colonial whites really were just uniquely awful in how they treated people, and the almost entirely peaceful dissolution of apartheid continues to weigh on South African whites as a tremendous guilt that repudiates for all time the foundations of their racist political project. The same will happen in israel.

we grew up steeped in your views, your milquetoast status-quo centrist Liberal moralism and idealism. We know exactly how you think because it's how we used to think. Your arguments are an incoherent mix of "liberal" and "conservative" views that are all entirely wrong and miss the point, yet you think you know the entire spectrum when you only understand a small portion of it. You don't think in a systematic, class-based or organized way. Liberals have a goldfish brain of history, and think their lack of knowing better makes them smart enough to spout of their facile uneducated views. You don't strive to change things or enact our class interests, you think in a lazy half-baked self-interested individualist way. You don't believe you have a duty, you don't believe you have a specific place in history. You think me, me, and those I know - only in the short term.

You have no idea the views of communists, of marx, of castro or lenin. I can explain them to you on any subject you like but I doubt you are genuinely curious to learn.

I think in a realistic way. I support bernie & aoc and donate monthly to fund progressive candidates, but they arent far enough left for you guys. Progressives are making real change and influencing policy decisions while communists require a revolution for their goals. The chance of something like that being successful AND those who have power at the end being altruistic is miniscule. So no, i dont support uprooting the lives of everyone to achieve an impossible goal. We can achieve UBI, universal healthcare, campaign finance reform, walkable cities, etc in a capitalist society. That has been tested and proven.

Your problem is that you call anyone who isnt a full on communist a 'liberal'. Youre far too idealistic.

Regardless, i cant even post here without getting purged.

your 'realistic' politicians are leading us into world war 3, climate collapse and widespread reaction. Yes, even your precious squad signs the checks for Ukrainian fascists and Zionazis. The only 'realistic' option is a radical change. The 'centrists' are all insane neocon warmongers who want to nuke Iran, they are the most deluded and captured by capital. The 'left' are the reasonable and realistic neocon warmongers who want to get involved in a land war in Eurasia. Neither want to seriously address climate change by co-operating with China on mass renewable infrastructure initiatives and sea-walls and other supportive infrastructure for places most hard hit by climate change, instead both want war or cold war. Biden enacting tariffs on renewables. What a joke, we're all going to boil because of slow moving chauvinist "realistic" frogs like you.
