The biggest shock is that it didn't get brushed under the rug, but I can imagine it's because the movie is written/produced/directed by Aziz Ansari and he either doesn't want to risk being seen as being involved in bad shit again, or hopefully because he has a no bullshit policy even to one of biggest names of the last 40+ years of comedy. The movie may now never happen due to scheduling and now the writers strike.
I feel like Murray is done now, as no one he would want to work with/can afford him, would want to work with him, as this was his response -

Yes actually, he assaulted a production assistant on a movie set and the whole production shut down because of it.

That's not why he's missing though. My understanding is that he got COVID the week he was scheduled to shoot his scenes.
