Any tips? I know rest lots and lots, and get paxlovid right? Anything else?

My number one tip, if you're getting a bad cough, take a long hot shower. The steam really helps loosen up the crap in your lungs and you'll cough up a lot of shit. You can also just steam up your bathroom and hang out in there for a while if you are worried about overheating in the shower.

Isolate, make sure you have TP handy.

    Check in with people REGULARLY.

As some get it mild, some get it HARD.

Google Dr B and lie to the bot if you need to, just check for drug interactions. It’s $15 but you will get a script same day

Edit: I did this it’s legit

I went to a sketchy doctor once to get a medical marijuana card but it's nice to see that someone has made a website for that sort of thing.

I wear a KN95 most places, stay home a lot, and got a couple vaccines I wasn’t quite technically eligible for yet bc the FDA was taking too long to approve another round.

I’m over 9 months out from my last booster though, and I went to a concert the other day. I knew it was likely I’d get it but decided to take the risk to see Paramore after wanting to for over 10 years

Did you mask up at the concert? I haven't gone to an indoor one in ages but have considered it maybe for favorite musicians. But I know one-way masking can fail.

I'm sorry you got COVID. :deeper-sadness:

    That sucks

    :sadness:

Only other thing I can think of is drink a ton of water (or other liquids), even if you don't feel that thirsty.

starting paxlovid as early as possible is important.

use push health to get a rx for pax pushed to the pharmacy of your choice. you don't even need insurance or anything since the government-purchased stockpile will be free while supplies last

Yeah I’ve been trying to get it. Walgreens said I need a prescription even though they very specifically made it so pharmacies can prescribe it so idk what the fuck they’re talking about. CVS meanwhile wants $60 to talk to a pharmacist on the phone first

I hate this country why is it that everywhere you go someone is rifling through your wallet for loose coins

Not sure what new research has come out since I had Covid last year, but at the time paxlovid had some kinda terrifying side effects vis a vis birth defects. I would have had to sign a waiver stating I would wear condoms for a year or something if I took it. Just a heads up

Otherwise rest, tea with honey, cough drops, and frankly sleep. I slept for like three days straight

Just happened to me too when I "returned to the office". Get paxlovid as soon as you can. The sooner you get it, the better off you'll be. You can take tylenol to control the fever and it won't impact your recovery time.

Yep I’m working on it. The doctor was really hesitant to give it to me for some reason. Basically “You’re otherwise healthy, we want to make sure we fix that”

I didn't have a problem with it. I tried to take it every 12 hours nearly exactly since it could cause liver damage and I didn't want to risk it. You can tell when it's not in your system because the fun metallic taste in your mouth goes away.

Cvs officially has the prescription now so I’ll have it within the hour. This shouldn’t have taken this long. The healthcare system in this country sucks so much ass.

It took me about 5 hours of waiting time over 2 days just to see an internet doctor and pick up the prescription. I hope you feel better soon.

    Anything else?

Joe Rogan has talked a lot about how much Ivermectin helped him. Surprised nobody else is mentioning it

You've already had your vaccines, chances are you'll have a mild case. Get lots of rest, eat, and drink. Keep an eye on your symptoms though, if they do start getting worse don't wait to see a doctor.

I'd encourage you not to take medications you don't need. If you're set on having Paxlovid, you can keep it handy in case your symptoms get worse. Have an emergency contact in case you need someone to come and help you on short notice. Also if you have any breathing issues that require medication, stay well stocked.

Post recovery, once you feel up for it do a couple of substantial workouts. Don't go all out, but I absolutely didn't feel 100% until I had a few workouts afterwards.

Please do not spread misinformation. Paxlovid only works if you start taking it within the first 5 days of symptoms starting, it's not something you can wait to take. It blows my mind that people would turn down Paxlovid because they'd rather raw-dog COVID.

I have a friend who got COVID after being fully vaxxed and boosted. They turned down Paxlovid by their sibling's advice (because "It's just like a cold, bro"), got long COVID, and they've been living with with it for about a year now (they told me just today that their brain fog has not gone away or lessened). Needless to say, this would not have happened to them if they had taken Paxlovid.
