I cannot imagine any condition which would cause a ship to founder. I cannot conceive of any vital disaster happening to this vessel. Modern shipbuilding has gone beyond that.

History is repeating itself and it's fucking amazing.

The real zinger of this whole story is that the sub guy wasn't making any money off the thing yet, that each ticket price was going back into the thing for gas. So if that's true fucking bozo died for nothing.

Oh neat, they did the survivor heuristic. "Most accidents at sea occur because of operator failure, not mechanical failure, which is the thing that classing looks at very-intelligent "

He's not entirely wrong. Once you get down to a certain depth you don't need to worry about life vests anymore.

Also, it's unlikely anyone would ever certify his innovative pressurized coffin. There are several volumes of good reasons that the only manned expeditions that go down that far are financed by national governments.

Boldly going where several people have gone before the stare out a 10" porthole at a rusted pile of junk in the dark.

Rush added that his Titan sub features, and trips to the Titanic wreck, can be done outside of what's been previously done, saying: "I think I can do this just as safely while breaking the rules."

He's right though, safety is a waste if it's being spent on billionaires

Something about commodifying a gravesite sits wrong with me. I know it's a famous wreck and all but still.
