A strong showing from Tesla and Polestar. Especially Tesla has been building the same 4 cars for almost a decade now and they still suck at quality.

I believe this is based on initial defect rates in manufacturing, and has nothing to do with longevity or reliability.

Honda and Toyota are both around dead average which is really just ridiculous. They've got Hyundai, whose cars - if the engine doesn't kill itself or catch on fire, will be stolen by a 14 year old ahead of both.

I think it's fair to say it's between Toyota and Honda even today, although the hyper-computerization of vehicles has brought it down a bit IMO.
Lexus (this is not Matt Farah's million mile Lexus), being Toyotas luxury brand, is pretty widely recognized as the best - they make many of the parts to even higher and more exacting specifications, but of course you do pay upfront and in some replacement part costs.
Having Kia ahead of Lexus, when the Kia Boys exist, is just lols. I guess it's only one problem per car if you never see it again.
I think ranking either hours of service needed, or cost of service needed per year is probably more useful.
Like, a cupholder breaking and a transmission replacement seem to both count as one problem in this ranking.

Not only should EVs be more reliable, due to fewer moving parts and not being powered by explosions, but they should be significantly cheaper as well. Tesla is a failure at all possible upsides an EV should bring.
The average price of a new car in the US is just under $50k. So EV companies are making monstrous and expensive SUVs and trucks for Americans
In India and China you'll find EVs that are smaller with shorter ranges but are perfect for cities
I think it’s a purely American problem. China’s EV market is booming with a range of affordable models to the point that no one gives a shit about Teslas because domestic brands are more available and cheaper. I don’t know if it’s considered a luxury brand, but I think domestic models have that covered as well. I think China is also leading in the EV pickup truck line lol

Polestar is a division of Volvo ( owned by Geely ) so it is manufactured in China . I doubt this list is accurate though

I think this less a reflection on technology than on manufacturing quality. My experience with a plug in hybrid has been excellent it barely needs maintenance at all
Yeah I mean once every auto manufacturer has an EV on the market I expect they'll be significantly more reliable than what Tesla's been shitting out
My parents used to own a Ford and got a Toyota later, I'm very skeptical of them being next to each other here, the Ford had way more issues. Maybe this counts any problem regardless of severity and I'm only remembering the bad ones?
Yeah my understanding is that Toyota and Honda should be near the top of any list ranking cars by general "quality" in the way we would intuitively measure that. I'm very skeptical of this list.
