If so are there any episodes that serve as a good intro?

One of the hosts was one the QAA episode about the guy who played jesus. (great episode btw).

There's definitely good stuff in there. They are funny people with mostly good politics (well, Dave has the good politics and Garreth seems like a sponge for Dave's politics). There's also episodes that just feel like one man badly reading from a page while another man does mediocre bits about it.

I still sometimes listen when the subject seems interesting. There's some real good basic "americana" episodes, especially early on. I don't even care about baseball, but the Rube episode and 10 Cent Beer Night are classics.

10 cent beer night is one of my favorite bad ideas of all time. I’ll check that out, thanks.

i liked it for a while because the history is random and weird, but they really don't know how to end a bad bit. Usually doing some kind of voice, but they drag that shit out for multiple minutes. So i got tired of it.

It’s one of my favorites. Some of my favorite episodes:

1908 New York to Paris Car Race,

    The Death of George Washington,

    Ronald Reagan,

George HW Bush, (really any that are a politician you know are great)

    The Loomis Fargo Robbery,

    Steven Seagal,

    Aaron Burr

It's fine. The ad reads suck, and I feel that the pace can drag occasionally if the hosts get lost in a bit, but I enjoy the occasional listen.

Thanks for the answer. occasionally good is better than nothing when it comes to pod slop.

Edit: you weren’t kidding, skipped ahead to 11 minutes and it’s still ads.

yea i dont know how they get any advertisers cause i think thats the only time they do ads so it makes it even easier to skip.

yeah, its always about 11 minutes of intro and ads.

About the midpoint on the recent episodes there's an shoutout about what where you can go see Gareth do his own thing.

They have some funny episodes. But some of them are just very dry and the jokes don’t land and it feels like an eternity. The first episode I listened to was recommended on here. It was the George Washington one where he’s on his death bed. Very funny

It’s also funny that one of the host is apparently British but has an American accent

I like it. I'd say any of the multi-parters are good (John McCain, Stephen Seagal, George Bush Sr).

Just remember this and you'll be okay, sometimes Gareth or Dave will go off on a bit that is really cringy (usually some crude sex stuff) and it will just keep going and going and going. So, unless you're driving or something, its really good that some podcast listening apps let you set a 10/15/30 second skip when you tap a button.

Other than those moments (that ALWAYS seem to hit when my wife is around) its a pretty enjoyable show over all.

Benedict Arnold episode was pretty good.

I don't do sports stuff, but I like listening to the history around sports. I don't think there is a single episode talking about sports that I didn't enjoy.

I haven’t listened to The Dollop, but West Wing Thing is one of my favorites and also has Dave Anthony as one of the hosts.

They basically just review each episode of the West Wing and talk about how shitty it is and how it has negatively affected politics in real life. You don’t need to watch the show to enjoy the podcast.
