When you're a kid in the 90's : Hell yeah murica won!
When you're 30 something in the 2020's : Damn murica won.
When I first went to see that movie, I hoped for it to be something like a movie version of X-Com (the 90s game, which was the style at the time ).
I wanted to see contemporary aircraft actually fight UFOs, even if underpowered, without the force field bullshit denying so much as a fight scene.
Then I saw deus ex machina plot resolutions involving le Apple computers.
this is the movie with will smith right? Even as a kid before I knew I was a leftist, I hated this movie because Will Smith plays the typical Murican hero role and the President turns out to be an ace pilot and destroys the Alien mothership at the end (if I remember correctly)
