Angry old reactionary man who constantly complains about lattes and hybrid cars makes friends with young hippy idiots whom he berates the entire movie while teaching them how to be a 'real adult' but also they end up bonding because he secretly has a heart of gold or some shit.

If I wanted to hear a self important chud boomer make snide remarks for 2 hours I'd visit my parents.

The problem is, most old, angry people suck as humans and have nothing of value to pass to anyone. It's basically Boomer Fan-fiction, especially when Clint Eastwood has anything to do with it.

Every single Clint Eastwood movie: "hey here I am, old man slur, at it again calling people slurs and probably disliking them but I'm an old fashion type american, I treat everyone equally disrespectfully. Did I learn anything from this adventure I just took with my [asian/mexican/woman/child] friend? Absolutely not but boy howdy these children learned a thing or two about grit from an older generation"

uhhhh what the fuck movie was this? Not that this was uncommon. That was the whole plot of one of the bond movies.

The fantasy of every liberal is to get the begrudging approval of a reactionary. Even more so if they're an older man.

I can't think of an equivalent of this with an older woman.

They need to believe that chuds are good at heart, especially if they are related.

i can totally watch vigilantism slop, but i can't deal with straight up hegemonic discourses. there's this Direct To Steam flick with morgan freeman and cole hauser called "The Ritual Killer" that i had to shut off, because literally the story is about a white american cop investigating a serial killer who is an african immigrant doing scary exotic ritual serial killings, and morgan freeman plays the consultant-anthropologist who, besides helping track the killer, teaches naive college kids that non-western cultures are evil and incompatible with progress.

i kept waiting for it to give a signal that this insanely reactionary trope would be subverted, but after about 30 minutes of boilerplate copaganda, i shut it off disgusted. do better, cole hauser.

lol, definitely. though in the case of the movie, it was more like, "oh you think being able to read and write and do science is cool? well these exotic people are brain eating murderers who hate reading and writing and science."

I kinda remember that movie, I liked that the villain from the flashback scenes swore vengeance but then got mega rich and decided to just drop it.

Wasnt there an assyrian mural that complained the youth would rather write books than anything else?

This genre was so huge during the 80s and 90s as the people who were selling their kids futures were trying to remind us young folks how "good we have it."
