Goes to show that if there is any degree of subtlety, chuds won't get that they are being made fun of.

The anti MAGA made up for a more boring season IMHO. I don't love that the CIA are objectively the good guys now.

I was pretty suspicious of that as well, but I don't think they're good guys in the show. If I remember properly, the guy ordering MM around is only concerned about the exploding-head lady because she can easily kill anyone that goes against her, without anyone knowing it's her.

Honestly it's bad writing when her power is basically controlling blood, she could kill people by giving them an aneurism / heart attack and no ome would even suspect a thing

Or, to make it funner, maybe there's a reason she can't just give people like that, like due to limitations or something idk.

Theres a moment in the Gen V spin off wheres shes threatening someone in a parking garage, I thought "ah how dangerous, he'll die of something subtle" and then his head burst like a watermelon under a tire.

i don't think anyone in the show is a good guy. it's all self-interest and revenge, even when they pretend to be moral

The show centering on a bunch of CIA goons led by an annoying Australian who epicly swears bacon style made me hate the show after a couple episodes. I finished all 3 seasons anyway but found it all annoying.

Not really. While Mallory and MM are fine, Butcher was absolutely psychotic and Neagley wants to turn Ryan into a weapon so basically Homelander 2.0.

In the comics they are just an end to means for butcher and the boys. CIA gets shit all over in the comics at least

Yes it's based on a comic by Garth Ennis. Superheroes become mainstream enough that there's a superhero industry and their brands are managed by a corporation because they're celebrities now instead of vigilantes. Crazy guy with a grudge gets a team together to eradicate the supes because 99% of them are flawed, egotistical maniacs as they're basically groomed from young age like Nickelodeon stars but they're walking WMDs instead. So it's "anti cape-shit" but effectively still ends up being cape shit most of the time because most characters are supes.

It's sorta in the same vein as The Watchmen where it poses the question "what if superheroes were real?" and proceeds to answer "pretty much nothing good and a whole lot of bad." With way more sexual debauchery.

Don't forget the gratuitous gore! The show effectively cold opens with the in universe "Flash" running through someone and turning them to paste.

It is the rare capeshit that criticizes capeshit enough that non capeshit likers such as myself can enjoy it

As much as I enjoy The Boys, I actually hope it comes to a good conclusion soon. Because I feel like there's a line between capeshit critique and regular capeshit, and that line is somewhere around when we get to season 11 of "anti-capeshit" promising "the most bombastic superhero fights yet."

Still, I'm a sucker for Karl Urban's acting and general dunking on chuds lol

I really like Karl Urban's acting too. He's one of those "tough guy" actors where he genuinely seems like a tough dude in the mold of fellas like Charles Bronson, Toshiro Mifune, or Liev Schrieber. It adds believability.

It's capeshit insofar that it has superheroes and sometimes they fight with lasers. It is not at all like actual capeshit I think, the last Marvel movie I actually saw was Ironman.

Imagine cape shit but “what if corporations BAD?”

Extremely boring, surface level criticism of le crony capitalism. If you want to watch good cape shit, watch Birdman because it isnt capeshit

Its bonkers how we have this conversation every season, as Chuds figure it out more.

Side note, the storyline where vought uses Queen Maeves sexuality as marketing against her wishes is maybe one of the only mainstream tv show critiques of rainbow capitalism Ive seen?

In season 4 it went from a dramedy satire of capeshit with gratuitous violence to gratuitous violence with some plot threads holding it together.
