lol. i thought i was going to come in here and do a dunk about dudes paying subscription games like WoW, but i see you've already done some kind of harlem globetrotters 360° rock-n-jock backboard exploding pulldown.

the star citizen phenomenon is the all-time dumbest gamerbrain situation.

It's fine. If you enjoy it and can afford to spend the money

in matters of taste the customer is always right. You can't be wrong about what your hobbies are if you like superhero movies that is similarly fine good even

Personally I just buy the basegames and then use pirated DLC, works best for me because it gives me Steam workshop access, which makes mod management 1000x easier as well as the possibility of multiplayer if I ever want to do that.

At this point I just get the subscription for the month I want to play every half year or so.

Can't be arsed to deal with pirating a game with 5 billion DLC. Guess the model works.

Death to EA but at least the Sims tells you exactly what you're buying with each expansion, you're not gambling money for the chance to get a png of an underage girl.

You say that but waifu gacha games are actually really popular with girls, especially in Asia. I'd be willing to bet that the Genshin Impact playerbase is surprisingly close to 50/50.

Works everytime. No sketchy crack, no sketchy torrent. Just download the F2P base game and patch it. I'll be damned if I'm paying $750 for buggy piece of shit Sims 4, the core game is not salvageable

Any kind of simulator game like that tends to have lots of payware (of varying quality) for specific vehicle models or settings. Flight sims can be pretty bonkers, but most people get like one aircraft and really focus on it. I don't think the average person goes for a full collection.

I came to say this. Isnt crusader kings 2 like several grand? And most of those addons are text scripts that could be done better and more coherently by me let alnoe modders if things werent hardcoded on prupose to sell dlc.

Total war is also really bad at this. There are nearly 100 dlc for warhammer. And the whole games have been made deliveratley hard to mod to the point were they have been selling the rome 2 equivalent of medieval 2 mods as full games for years.

Torrent people is what im saying.

Depends when you buy them tbh. If you bought every DLC at release, then yeah, it's a nightmare. If you waited until now, it's a different story. As someone who plays those games, I typically wait until there's a massive discount + sale because it's not worth it otherwise.

CK2 hard to say because the base game's now free and a lot of the DLC has been marked down, so it's currently less than $100 for everything, most of which is cosmetic or music which most people would agree isn't worth paying for. IIRC I got all the main DLC in a humble bundle for like $10.

CK3 is much worse because Paradox has decided to price the individual DLCs higher ($30 instead of I want to say $15) and nothing's really discounted yet.

EU4's big bundle is so heavily discounted that it's only about twice as much as the latest DLC by itself.

TWW1 and 2 are reasonable now that they've been out so long (all-in they look to be around $60), but TWW3 is ridiculous and Chorfs are more expensive than any other DLC faction in the past.

        But yeah 🏴‍☠️ stay winning

That may seem reasonable. Until you realize both those games are about 10 years old.

I may be oldfashioned on this one since the last game i bougth was 20 years ago because it was to heavy to torrent with the internet speed we had back then. Now its all digital distribution...

complete editions came with a fusical copy a manual. Strategy guides and were very rareley iver 50 usd. most videogaame prices would revert to 5- 15 bucks after 2 or 3 years.

How much was age of empires 1 when 3 came out? Thats about the same time difference. 1995 to 2005. 2013 to 2023.

That being said its best to wait 10 years or so before playing total war games even then your hardware may not run them.

Pardon the tangent here, but I wonder how these lot try to reconcile with the fact that they talk and act almost exactly like Azula?

Do these CHUDs think Azula is woke? Or do they see her as a role model the same way they look at Rick Sanchez or Jack Horner?

Some props to both The Amazing Atheist and the OG KiA creator for being introspective enough to have a "Are we the baddies?" moment.

Now thanks to KiA, gaming just feels like the under 45 equivalent of golf. An elitist pastime for spoiled WASPs. It's going to be hilarious when country clubs start having esports lounges 10-20 years from now.

why is the sims community so compliant

dude are you seeing that they're offering sims 4 for free? it's because people aren't playing it, they sticked with sims 2 and 3
