Three pigs violently assault an innocent person

News report: Spends the entire segment on the rules about showing a receipt, which is irrelevant since the cops don't care anyway agony-consuming

Weird how police are just desperately and fruitlessly scrounging around for anyone who might be committing a crime when I've been told that we're in a historic crime wave.

So in California they switched to reusable bags a couple years back, and its pretty common to buy something and just carry it out of the store if you don't need a bag or receipt. Every time I do that I worry about this exact thing happening to me.

I mean was that even unusual 30 years ago? The idea that every transaction needs both a digital and a paper record for all parties which may be scrutinized at any time only came about with the complete dominance of the computer

Even if you do have a receipt from Walmart, checking to identify every line item is a pain in the ass.

    Ask me how I know.

When I worked there and my manager asked me to check people’s receipt, I’d just pretend to look at the receipt and then stare blankly at the cart then let them through. I’ve let like 10 people who underscanned or straight up stole leave the store, and the security manager praised me for being vigilant and being a model employee lol

Encouraging retail employees to make a show of checking receipts is probably one of the best easy things we can do to improve people's lives under late capitalism.

The more shoppers that have an experience of an employee doing an empty check, the more people will get the idea that they can just take stuff.
