And I blame hexbear for sharing this cursed knowledge with me.

I remember there was a whole subreddit dedicated to "elsagate"

I think it was just a proto AI churning out content to monetize YT channels

Kids happen to like weird shit like pregnant spider-man pooping on the joker. They're kids after all, I found poop jokes hilarious as a kid. So you got people just making content out of that to appeal to kids using their parents phones or tables to watch yt. I remember too in a lot of them in the comments sections it was random gibberish and that tracks for a kid trying to type away.

Lmao i remember everyone trying to say that the comments were like, coordinates or codes for sex trafficking stuff.

Honey, no, this is bots making content and a mix of bots commenting, and kids randomly poking at their family Ipad

Some of it may have been AI, but there was a lot of live-action videos too. It was all no-budget studios acting in a way that mimicked the algorithm in order to earn money from it, it was mainly post-postmodern.

In some ways optimizing your content based on metrics in a relatively mindless way is kind of how AI functions anyway. Even if it isn't AI generated, it kind of sort of is?

Artists tend to make works that are influenced by the stuff they saw as kids. When the kids who saw that stuff grow up, art and media is going to be weird.

What does he mean by primary's daughter? Is he just poly?? Or is it some weird yudkowsky-AI-brain way of talking about your spouse?

Im confused too. It seems like he is poly. But i always tougth he couldnt get an erection. Mainly because in the harry potter book he talks about erections a couple of times and it is clear its an alien concept for him.

She's referencing a bunch of bizarre, low-quality youtube videos with Spiderman and Elsa and various other characters doing strange things, for example, Elsa getting pregnant and Spiderman and the burying her. These videos were algorithmically aimed at very young children, and there's like ten billion of them.

Sorry im on the phone. The worst part is that i think that particular scene is based on his own life. In the story his friend was a rich guy. And in real life he mooches of billionares. So probably one time his patron made a similar remark...

          slate star codex.

I forgot about that and its author till now sicko-wistful

It is one of the main sources of bad talking points by "IT" people I know, too.

He is a racist shithed but i think more than anything, it sucks that he is so popular. I wouldnt mind him if he wasnt simetimes featured in blogs of people i like. Makes me question my tastes.

Totally. Slightly like Noah Harari imho, in the sense that people like them and take them for authorities even though they aren't and they are pushing into a specific direction.

I went out and read his short story after seeing this comment and I gotta say... Actually reading Yudowsky does a pretty good job at dispelling any notion of him having insightful observations about anything.

Knowing that his fiction is supposed to be specifically preaching his philosophies casts an even more unflattering light on him. Like wow all I'm learning from the messaging is that this guy is an edgelord libertarian dipshit with very little creativity.

            cw rape discussing edgelord worldbuilding

And yes I understand what he was trying to do with including the 'rape is legal' jumpscare. Yes, it's totally supposed to make us reflect on moral relativism and how society might change in the future, but then none of it is further reflected on or even internally consistent within the morality or interpersonal interactions with the rest of the characters in the story.

Like hey dipshit, we humans have already had societies where forms of rape were legal. And guess what, the standards and reasoning behind that were that were reflected everywhere in the rest of society, due to the circumstances of who held power and how that was maintained.

Instead they have the characters having a sensible chuckle about how silly of an idea it is that rape could be considered bad or something to worry about and then in the next two chapters have that exact same character get squeamish about an alien having sex with a seperate digital avatar of himself. Come the fuck on dude.

3/10, self indulgent pulp sci fi high on its own philosophical farts, no notes.

            Hahaha

I used to cavort there too. But there is some overlap between them and neocons. And i have allways been pro iran so those bits rubed me the wrong way.
