Did epic cat work for those 500 cheeseburgers? No, no he did not. He got the delish burgers off the tax payer dime. This is what tankies in socialism want to do to YOU.

Which is funny because KYM was extremely reactionary last time i had the misfortune of looking at it. (Basically the worst of Twitter, 4chan, and reddit culture).

The followup tweet is so fucking funny the guy is literally posing with a sword from the most "teenage boy power fantasy" ass isekai anime out there in his official photo like come on.

I know you have to have no shame to write serious fearmongering articles about "tankies" but I didn't think you had to demonstrate it before being given the job.

how sad is it that we have fucking academic papers seriously using the term "tankies"

Don't we absolutely eclipse lemmygrad in posting?

The simple explanation is that the person who did this "research" is incompetent on a technical and research level but keeps getting rewarded because they know how to tell stories that liberals like to hear.

Considering they claimed "tankies" is a movement started in the 1950s, called redsails Chinese website, and called Foreign Policy a left-wing extremist publication, they are absolutely incompetent.

I had a suspicion that was the case. For better or worse, we're pretty insular. This site has a foul reputation elsewhere, too. Hopefully that changes when we federate and people actually see our posts in aggregate.

All right, let's get those numbers up, folks! I'll go first.

I love Joseph Stalin and Hitler, who are the same, they do the socialist fraternal kiss, but Stalin is cooler because he did better genocide.

"Our dataset also has a notable lack of far-right communities. For example, there is no representation of fascism or alt-right communities. While the major explanation for this is relatively simple (Reddit has aggressively removed far-right extremists and some right-wing oriented subreddits like r/fascism are private), it is definitely a caveat when we compare tankies to right-wing extremism in general."

“tankies,” a left-wing community that first arose in the 1950s in support of hardline actions of the USSR and has evolved to support what they call “actually existing socialist countries,” e.g., CCP run China, the USSR, former soviet countries, and North Korea.

Giving enormous "skimmed a Wikipedia article" energy in this abstract. This is what you get from STEM guys who don't think the liberal arts are real. Come on guys, just get one political science or history scholar, even a liberal one, someone who didn't just learn about the existence of communism last week.

Hexbear users don't tend to link to Hexbear as a source, instead using it as a place to collect other sources to use. This was caused by the site archiving of posts older than 1 month making it unreliable to link here from elsewhere. Everyone built up a culture of finding other links to use that aren't Hexbear instead. I myself was linking to Hexbear frequently prior to the archiving.

Now that archiving is no longer occurring a priority for the site team ought to try and work out how to repair this unintended culture created by the previous conditions. I suspect that because this culture has been created it also results in content not being posted that would also get linked to, creating a feedback loop. A lot of content worth linking to used to get posted, and that decreased when archiving made it not worth posting things people would link to anymore.
