I would say get a gun, but I don't know what country you're in and frankly don't know if it would actually do you any good since reactionary justice systems tend to ignore self defense when it's a marginalized person defending themselves. Even if you "win" you shouldn't have to suffer the blows of random nazis. You could get brain damage. You could get a concussion. I knew someone whose dad got AIDS from a fist fight in a pub. There's no "winning" random interpersonal fights like that. It's always a net negative.

The fact is, most people can't tell if someone is cis or trans at a glance. If you're just walking past and your femme, most people don't pay that much attention. Also, most of these assholes have no real exposure to LGBT people, and so code everyone androgynous as whatever Matt Walsh told them trans people are this week and resort to 1970s era gay panic shittery.
You can be a slightly feminine guy, gay or otherwise, you can be a Cis butch woman or even just an androgynous or tall woman in pants. They literally cannot tell which of these you are, and even if they could they have no framework to work with that other than violence.
Anecdotally I always got more shit from men the more boyish I looked and the more femme I looked the less shit I got from men.
This however comes with an inverse, I got more shit from women (especially at pubs with drinking involved) until reaching a point where they could no longer clock it.
This I think supports the "you look socially acceptable to fight" assessment. I just think you shouldn't expected going more femme to eliminate it entirely, it may just change the gender of the people you get shit from. With that said it's undoubtedly safer to be getting that shit from women who usually aren't likely to kill you compared to men, I don't know if many trans murders are performed by women.
I just wish I was never in that situation to begin with
retrospectively this is how i feel about every fight i've been in ever and it is baffling to me that people are willing to start shit over anything when the end result is lose-lose pretty much 100% of the time
