Sorry grandpa but Poland was technologically like 10 years behind the west in the 2000s. CD-Rs were my childhood maaaaaaan, and pirated DVD movies toooooo

I consider Blu-Ray new technology, and that shit came out in like 2006

Also Verbatim has some really cool stuff on their website it's really cool

Yeah. They were probably in electronics stores at the time.
I remember my friend's band back then released demos on mini cds like this:

I thought they were so cool!

I had one Mini CD that was sold with Piccolo, which is like kids „champagne”, and that was loaded with games and demos. I loved that little thing, and I think I still should have it somewhere.

Nice. I think I had a Pokemon one with clips from one of the movies on it.

I remember back in the day people were obsessed about which verbatim factory their CD-Rs came from.

I recently bought a bulk pack of these Verbatim "Vinyl" CD-Rs identical to the ones you post here. Can confirm they're great, I overburned all 82:21 or whatever of Quadrophenia onto one, they're solid. Better than the dollar store Verbatim discs I used to get, I think.

I'm partial to cassettes for physical Bandcamp copies cuz I'm a freak, but I like me an optical media now and then. Never let fucking NERDS take optical media from us or imply it's bad!!!

    bullying zoomers

One of those things that turns me into an awful bitter reactionary is the "disc rot" meme going round. Can happen to recordable media, but if it's pressed only 80s Laserdiscs rot... and yet FUCKING KIDS grillman run around acting like Blurays or PC games from the 00s will rot. Fuck off my optical media, that shit fucks.

I bought an mp3-CD audiobook so that I wouldn't have to deal with not really owning the DRM-infested download version (and uncertainty as to whether the state of the DRM arms race [and my limited technical skills] will allow me to liberate it before my purchase is clawed back [and no, I can't find it on the high seas or the library system]), but the CD-RW drive in my ancient laptop only seems to be able to read raw audio CDs correctly, it won't see data CDs. harold-manic

Does any maker of external optical readers have a particular reputation for compatibility and reliability?

What the fuck? This must be a driver issue, it HAS to be able to read data CDs, there is no other way.

It mistakes them for blank CD-RWs and wont proceed without trying to format them
