This person has also said many transphobic and misogynistic things to me before. Lemmy.ml is a fucking joke, I'm only on here to check trans places everywhere

edit: He's been banned by dessalines. But nutomic (an admin) and davel (an admin and hexbear user) has been defending him in the comments. They should go too, wtf

jfc. This weirdo is the only active mod of ml c/technology

@dessalines@lemmy.ml this is highly questionable behavior from a mod of a major comm claiming to be "the official lemmy.ml Technology comm"

Edit: though for further context, lemmy.ml has open community registration, like reddit, so its not like all mods are hand picked or approved at all by the admins (unlike some instances). But claiming to be "official" isn't cool and dude should probably be knocked off for defending drawn csam IMO

This person has a long and sordid history as a misogynist piece of shit. They were fairly active on Lemmygrad who eventually banned them, but it was unfortunately just temporary. But you'll see the incel/MRA kind of trash they believe if you look at their lemmygrad modlog history.

Damn @davel@lemmy.ml why the fuck you out here defending pedophiles

Ugh, I have to go read all of that now :(

If he’s a pedophile, that will be news to me. On first impression without having read it all, he seems to be taking a kernel of truth to absurdities: that the powerful (up to and including the state itself) sometimes use things like CSAM as a cudgel against those they see as their adversaries.

The Lemmy.ML moderator in question is arguing that using AI to create nude photographs of a child in order to bully and harass that child is not CSAM.

I said that I suspected you might be a Global North chauvinist, because brand new users who claim to be communists often turn out to be just that.

The guy is a misogynist; of that I have no doubt and have called him out on it publicly before. His weird take on AI-generated CSAM is a new one for me, though.

I went digging a bit, found this in one of his deleted misogynistic rants:

This doesn't really seem like "treading lightly"

Is there a reason we can't see ml c/technology from hexbear?

I don't think there is. From what I've been able to tell, it's a bug and is relatively common. There are certain comms and even certain users that are plain invisible, as it seems as if they do not federate correctly (despite the rest of the instance being federated). I have talked about it before, and c/technology isn't the only one like that. We also can't see the lemmy.ml privacy comm from hexbear. And they can't properly see our literature comm. I'm sure there are others, in fact I know there are I just can't remember which atm.

Are we able to defederate from specific communities?

I think we actually are able to do that now? But that's not what this is. This was an issue long before that was a feature. And like I said, it happens with certain users too and there is nothing in the modlog of either instance about them being banned or something. They simply don't exist if you're looking for them from the other instance. purge-2

Thank you for the detailed response. I presumed their conduct in the past had resulted in the community becoming inaccessible.

Thanks. I know lemmy.ml has a longer leash for guys like this but I'm glad you agreed this crossed the line
